Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets (2017)
Better than expected
While this movie has been widely criticised by some critics, I think there are many other international films which in the name of being 'Acclaimed international films' are even bad in scripting and execution and still leniently left un-criticised. Valerian.. isn't that kind of movie.
It's a great attempt. Awesome effects, good picturisation, decent plots and story and a completely new world and Characters created by the makers. I wonder why those so called critics couldn't see so many good points of this film. However I noticed that the audiences all over have loved the film.
Its definitely a good and decent watch. I am expecting a sequel if possible as I loved the interesting world and characters. Specifically the chemistry between Valérian and Laureline
I think this movie is not just worth watching but also needs an interesting sequel.
Ghost Stories (2020)
Just 3 points for it
Bad Stories
Bad Execution
Very bad technical set-up (Amateur film students do better job than this, please retire guys)

Gutsy subject with some great performances
Quite impressed with the kind of subject Anubhav Sinha chose to make. Quite impressed with the versatility of Ayushmann Khurrana. Very good ensemble casting and performances. The writing was a bit slow but the direction and performances didn't let down. However the writers job is very commendable too for research, detailing and than creating an exciting script out of a sensitive subject. Kudos to the makers. This is Good Cinema in True sense.
Please note, this is not a typical masala entertainer, so please watch this movie with an open mind and patience
Bard of Blood (2019)
And I thought Liela was bad
Dear Netflix are you having a competition within your self for the worst Indian show? Why are you spending brainless money on such badly developed-researched series. Sacred Games, Leila, BOB? Please stop wasting our money. India & Indians have great talent of International scale, you just need to open your eyes and look around.
Don't want to waste further time on this review. I have only one word for BOB which I couldn't tolerate beyond 1.5 episode. 'PATHETIC'
Don't watch this series
Bãhubali 2: The Conclusion (2017)
1st Part is better
The 1st part of this movie was excellent. However even the 2nd part is entertaining and stands up to our expectations. I believe the editor-director has smartly kept all the good events of the story in part 1 to make maximum impact and kept everything else in the 2nd part. Good marketing strategy. Well when you have a product like Bahubali which has been made and shot so well that it actually becomes difficult to decide what to keep in the 1st or 2nd part. Ultimately both the parts are huge success and that's what matters
Bãhubali: The Beginning (2015)
Game Changer
This movie is a game changer in the Indian film Industry. It broke all barriers and records. Kudos to Rajamouli. Excellent planning and execution. I hope this team keeps making more movies and makes India proud
Sacred Games (2018)
Avoidable
I want to say it in just one line.
Though I haven't read the original book from where this series has been made, I think the makers have unnecessarily stretched a 6 episode (max 6 hrs) story into 16 episodes? Really?
( I think the high ratings people are giving are fake and given by digital marketing agents who are giving my review a bad rating, really funny)
Mission Mangal (2019)
You can watch it once
Mission Mangal is a typical bollywood movie. Full of bollywood masala, not actually a bad movie, not a great movie either. I think why many are disliking the movie is because the makers have taken too much liberty in showing a true event which was one of the proudest moments of India. Yes, India was one of the few countries to reach mars the 1st to reach mars in Asia & 1st country to do it in just one attempt. I think apart from entertainment people also want to know what actually and exactly had happened during the whole mangalyaan mission for it to be successful. They have seen the age old bollywood masala in many other movies, I believe the makers could have avoided too many made-up, over the top scenes and had shown more reality and real research based story.
Though mission mangal is inspired from true and real events, it looks more fake than original. I think today's audience is much smarter and well aware of the kind of quality content which is being produced all across the world specially after the new content boom in India. Getting upset about taking too many liberties in original story is quite normal for us that too for a subject which is of national pride.
Well its not a crime to show things in an entertaining manner. I believe this is what the makers wanted to make and its their take on mission mangal. May be some other maker should try and re-make this or something similar and make a different point. All the anger of viewers is quite justified for over the top scenes and treatment.
Leila (2019)
What a waste of a good concept and talent
This show Leila shows how important CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT should be, in producing any show. I think it was a good concept with some good cast but the creative development and execution team completely failed. I am not saying they haven't tried, but its definitely sure that they were very over confident and lethargic in the whole development and execution process. When you are trying to make something for the international audience that too for a platform like NETFLIX, everything from start to finish has to be INTERNATIONAL. The executors of this show have produced it with a very narrow thought process in all aspects. I think they thought by getting the concept approved, hiring Deepa Mehta as the director and casting some known faces will make this show work. I don't think these people are well aware of the quality of shows Netflix has been producing. Even as per the Indian production standards the show LEILA is very average and badly made. They all should introspect and not repeat same mistake again, i.e. if they get a second chance. You don't get such chances again and again.
Typewriter (2019)
Worth a Watch for Every Indian
The way some projects are performing (badly) which are made in India, Typewriter is a fresh attempt to prove that we are creative and good makers too. Obviously we can't compare every Indian Series with International Content, there's Vast difference. From what some Indian producers have been making for amazon/netflix etc. this is a pretty good attempt, worth a watch for every Indian.
Good-story telling, shot taking, locations, performances, screen play and dialogues. The characterisation and layering could have been better, it could have been a bit crispier but may be, since it is made for mostly the Indian market the makers have tried to spoon feed, which is otherwise not required. The editing could have been a little smarter and in the climax, the VFX team has not done a good job. But, a brilliant attempt, the location used and the look of the show is quite international. I hope many more attempts are made and we all get to enjoy good content along with some crisp making.
Well done Team Typewriter. Kudos - Sujoy Ghosh you have done an amazing job.
Do watch it. Cheers
Breaking Bad (2008)
Simply Breaking Awesome
This man Bryan Cranston is an epic actor. Such simplicity, yet so brutal a rare combination. It's a lengthy story told in multiple seasons, yet it was so gripping that I had to binge watch and finish all seasons in just one month, don't know if that is fast enough :)
All the actors were outstanding including Aaron Paul who was the only Actor in this show who could compete with Bryan in terms of performance, however I think everyone did very well as per the characters given to them. This show proves how a well organised and well executed team work can make such simple narrative so very interesting. Such shows are a big source of learning for every viewers & entertainment professionals in many ways.
If you haven't seen it yet, don't miss it. Watch it now.
Spartacus: Blood and Sand (2010)
One of the best & bold shows I have seen till now
The creators of this show have taken full creative liberty to showcase a sensitive and brutal era in such a grand and beautiful manner. This is a master piece in terms of story, characters, special effects, shot taking, music, dialogues, plots, sensitivity, action & entertainment. You cannot get a better example to showcase a very regressive period drama into such a marvellous scale. In due course of the series I felt sad to see the demise of the lead cast Andy Whitfield, such a superb actor who must have given everything - his blood - sweat, to live inside the skin of SPARTACUS, my heartfelt salute to him. Even Liam his replacement did a fabulous job. The whole season has some breathtaking moments played by some amazing actors. This shows how the makers were so committed to tell this story.
You need time, patience and an empty space in your mind to grab and capture the minute details with which this show has been developed. I thoroughly loved and enjoyed every moment of it.
KUDOS to team 'SPARTACUS'
