You, Me and the Apocalypse (2015)
Promising start...Dismal finish... Thank God it's Over....(Spoilers)
(Spoilers below -- you have been warned!)
Promising start, engaging middle, much too long in bits and a really atrocious ending. If I could rate bits of it, I would say the 10 stars for the first couple episodes, down to 0 stars for the last.
So... Jamie (Mathew Baynton) is the Son-O-God (as evidenced by his parting of the Thames), but he's left outside the bunker(doing a "red sea" on the Thames is do-able... big door with a sticky hinge... much tricker...)
Ariel (Mathew Baynton) suddenly feels he's surrounded by weirdos (seriously?)
Who's in the box who thinks the monkey is pure evil?
Was Father Jude (Rob Lowe) killed by the Vatican, or did he really hang himself? (Ugh.. this should have been the tip-off... stop watching here!)
Why the compulsion for good people to kill innocent people along the way (the guards at the prison, the tow truck driver).
What was God's plan for Frankie (Grace Taylor) and for Sister Celine (Gaia Scodellaro) and why is she special?
What, exactly was the point of the whole story, besides seeing Dianna Rigg again?
Like a previous poster mentioned.... that's 400~ish minutes I'll never get back.
This could have been a GREAT story... good premise, good acting, clearly high production values, instead, it slowly devolves into drivel. Fun at the start, waiting for the big twist at the end, which is really not a great big twist -- Areal was the cockroach in this distopian apocalypse story. No surprise to see him there at the end.
It feels like the writers, upon hearing that there would be no second season (who could possibly see THAT coming?) decided that no one (including the audience) would get out of the story happy.
