Avatar: The Last Airbender: Aang (2024)
Not good enough acting and script
The series so far doesn't deviate from the animated film. It seems like the plot is unfolding as it should. All the characters are there, and the special effects aren't bad either, BUT the storyline is simply too thin. Additionally, the acting doesn't seem quite up to par, bordering on amateurish. Sokka is the only one who appears convincing for now. Overall, I'm not very optimistic. Netflix productions in general tend to create shallow and poorly written series. I fear they might leave their mark on this one as well.
The episode lasted for an hour, but the plot could easily fit into 25 minutes. Aang simply isn't a good enough actor for this role. Perhaps the issue lies in the fact that 80% or even more was filmed in a studio. They didn't capture my interest, and as a fan, I'm really trying to like it. I don't know how this series will resonate with an audience unfamiliar with the storyline.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: My Moon My Man (2022)
Art in action
The last episode is pure class. In a relatively short time, we managed to connect with the main character (David) and Lucy. The episode is full of emotions and superb colors. The series is so good that you can watch it from the first to the last episode in one sitting. With a lot of action, it is still a romantic story and that makes it special.
The development of David's character is extraordinary. From a small, scared kid to an incredible machine, but with a big heart. David and Lucy really work as a couple and I was rooting for them until the very end.
Finally, with a tear in my eye, I can say that I'm sorry that they didn't go to the moon together in the end.
A bili smo vam dobri (2021)
6 Authentic but to short
Rene Bitorajac once again excels under Branko Schmidt. Although he destroyed 23 tanks in the Homeland War, Dinko Cosic (Rene) does not brag about it. He is sad and resentful of the situation in the country, which is depressed and corrupt. He has been divorced for 7 years and his son does not want to talk to him. (perhaps due to alcoholism)
The film brilliantly shows war heroes most of whom have PTSD. People who have not the slightest understanding and sincere support from their government and politicians. Although under the leadership of Dink they try to make a radical protest, it quickly shuts down because politicians "buy" even that little dignity of the main organizers. Dinko is once again disappointed with the whole outcome and seeing that he is helpless, he decides to shorten his life.
