Trigger Point: Episode #1.1 (2022)
Tension, Boredom
For a drama about bomb disposal, it wasn't as exiting as I would've expected: moments which were supposed to be tense were rather boring and some of the bits that were meant to be exiting felt rather silly. The plot was predictable (as soon as the bloke started talking about his family, I knew he was going to get blown up) and it didn't feel like there was much of a world outside of the frame. This may get expanded upon in future episodes but this first outing left me cold.
Inside No. 9: Love's Great Adventure (2020)
Subdued yet superb
The episode feels different to other Inside No. 9 episodes with a subdued, loach-esque style, story that makes great use of it's narrative device (the snippets from the advent calendar). Being Inside No. 9, there is a brilliant twist which has been suitability obfuscated to match the restrained and gritty tone of the episode which makes it even more rewarding.
