Dispatches from Elsewhere (2020)
Unique show, Jason Segal stretches and shows us his creative talent
The commercials for the show looked intriguing, so I watched the first episode. In the following weeks I got confused about the reality or alternate reality being depicted. Coming to the end of the season, and not understanding too much better, I got annoyed: I don't like movies or TV that make me feel stupid. I don't think the finale answered any questions, but in a weird way, explained the whole show. The show reminds me in a way of Dali, Kubrick and Lynch, Joyce and Faulkner, all of whose work have made me feel less than intelligent. On the other hand they, like Segal, provide thought-provoking material for us to ponder and into which we can inject meaning.
The last 15 minutes of the finale sum up the whole show, the point of the show, and the beauty of it.
Winner Cake All (2018)
Great show, but....
How is this show rated G when Giada displays 3" of cleavage?
Downsizing (2017)
Two half movies doesn't equal one whole movie
SPOILERS.
First movie: Honey, I shrunk myself. Second movie: Climate Apocolypse with humor.
Too many plots, none of which are fully realized. The end of the world really is not funny. But the colony that goes into a vault to survive it, go before it is even imminent. Makes no sense. And when did downsized animals come into the picture? Shocking that this was directed by Alexander Payne.
