Doctor Who: The Waters of Mars (2009)
Different side of the Doctor
Beautiful to see the so called "Butterfly effect" in action in Doctor Who. In this episode The Doctor comes across a fixed point in history where there is nothing he can do. Again he has to leave precious, innocent people behind to die.
But then he makes a choice he never made before. He decides to change the fixed point, without thinking, without caring about the huge consequences it can have. But in the end, time and future stabilizes itself and in the end, not much changes and the Doctor is yet again, left alone, heartbroken.
Interesting to see a different side of the Doctor in this episode, where he describes himself as a winner, a God, a conquerer in a world where he makes the rules as the last Time Lord. The Lord of Time and Space.
Just like the Master he realises, and that, that breaks him even more.
