CardCaptors (2000)
Mostly Nastolgia but...
Many will complain about how the first English Dub was completely different and ruined the series. I will agree, that they threw out the idea of a story, but retained the idea of "capturing all the cards". That is the most disappointing thing about the dub (in my opinion.)
The music, although a complete deviation from the original's, gives a the show a more epic and mysterious vibe. The music is very memorable and and never fails to give some sort of hype. The English Dub reformed Cardcaptors from "A magical adventure with a gullible girl and moe moments" to "A magic adventure with a girl who has boundless courage". Which I personally believe works with the story just as well.
The voice acting is a hit or miss kind of situation. The company chose to cast young actors which made Sakura and her friends seem more "real" in that they sounded like 10 year olds. This, however may lead to a decline in quality as many of the actors were inexperienced.
Some also complain about Kero sounding like a "surfer dude" but I think it fits him just fine. I view the English dub and the original Japanese release as almost two separate shows, which may make it easier for those who dislike Cardcaptors because of it's complete deviation from the source material.
Wolf's Rain (2003)
Amazing Story, Music and Concept
English or Japanese, does not matter. The story and music of the series will evoke many emotions. The music especially, as it was composed by Yoko Kanno.
The history of the world is only slightly revealed, but leaves enough for the veiwer to wonder and imagine.
