Invasion: Something's Changed (2023)
I loath Luke...
The pace has definitely picked up compared to season 1. Luke is definitely turned into a useless teenager. The one that gets you killed in an apocalypse. He has a truly punchable face and I hate the character he's playing. I know where he comes from and what he went through in S1 but he's doing literally everything to jeopardize his sister and his mom. He's incredibly selfish and deserves everything that's coming to him. His sister is the only one that actually makes sense and does as she's told, follows the rules and seems to have a grasp of what she needs to do to stay alive. Luke is the exact reason humanity will go down the toilet.

I like it, but
I like it but the characters are.... too emotional, too less rational, not assertive enough. Only the dad and the little kid, but they're held back by the girls. Especially through S01.
Julie is not the typical 16yo or so teenager, but until this far she's reckless, doesn't think things through at all and is actually downright selfish when you think about it. Up until S01E09 she doesn't bring anything particularly userful to the table at all. And although she's been through trauma, I don't like how her role is written for her and thus her acting. It makes this family...... weird. Also the dad is an engineer. Up until halfway through S01 there's literally nothing going on where he does anything useful. I don't feel the chemistry as him being the dad of the familiy. Of this family.
Don't get me wrong: I like this series and the characters overall, but we all know and learned from DECADES of movie history that in these kind of horrific situations (not from my own experience, but from decades of movie experience), being emotional simply gets you killed. This series goes against this principle and does this unfortunately way too often. And it makes it less believable that the main characters keep surviving these situations where one probably would not.
My suggestion LESS whining and reminiscing, start being more assertive. Pay attention to the surroundings, make use of what you have. And I know we all hate the guy, but Jade is actually the only one of being rational enough that I like him for it. Yes, he needs to be slapped in the face really hard once in a while but he's the only one truly willing to take action.
All this emotional downplay is slowing the storytelling down unneccesarily. A tad quicker pace would do this entire series some good, I believe.

Good series, but damn...
It's a good series. A very good series. But the further I watch it the more I am starting to get annoyed by Mark. His.... passiveness is truly irritating and the way he does NOT communicate, with anyone is not "mysterious and silent" anymore. Meso is a totally different character. Much much love for Becky. What a sweet and pretty girl she is and what a smile.. I love that Sara came around. Ben isn't such a pushover anymore and Maya..... well, Maya.. is indeed Maya. But damn, Mark, my dude....... come on!
Overall: the tempo is solid. The fact that it's not an American series is a big plus. The mystery and suspense building is kept in check very well. They way and speed we learn about all the characters' their background is nice. After ep. 4 the pace is quickening and things start to take off.
The setting: 90's, metal/rock. Very very cool. Of course there are parallels with Stranger Things and an (also) German series like Dark but this one is very much on its own.
I can't wait for season 2. Let's go people!
