A beautiful Hollywood nightmare
9 May 2021
Conveyed first as a TV pilot, David Lynch's twisted surreal drama is full of metaphor and interpretation which has been debated and analyzed to death by cinephiles and movie buffs (almost as close to Kubick's shining). What almost everyone can agree upon is no matter how much you twist or convolute Mulholland Drive to make sense on what you just discovered , you are assured to get a sense that behind all the characters, plot, act, story and ending, Lynch knew exactly what he was going for and he achieved it in a glorious trepidatious manner. At first you might get a sense of a absurdist drama being directed on screen but by the end if you somehow figure out all the detail and hidden meaning Lynch has left through out each act you will get a grand film noir(as close to Sunset Blvd) ending that you will appreciate with each passing day and viewing leaving a immediate impact on your psyche and Hollywood dream as a whole.

Almost getting there
19 November 2019
This show is slowly starting to unfold all the mysteries and whether Damien Lindelof can pull off what he created remains to be seen. Meantime the production, design and music are some of the best for a TV series I've seen which should put on an awe on any casual viewers who has not even read the graphic novel. And even if you hated the political statement the show made in early episodes, this one will make it clear that it was not just an agenda by the creators. I am really hoping this show ties everything together until the end. For now I am really enjoying this show.

Theater clapped at the end for a supervillain which was not even relatable like other superheroes. This is the power of true cinema
5 October 2019
Amidst all the propaganda this film is facing from the media this is without a doubt one of the best character driven film ever done. Everything in this film ooze great film making. Cinematography is drop dead gorgeous, sound track is hauntingly beautiful, directing wise Todd Philips has outdone himself, characters are extremely realistic, Gotham has never been this well shot and made and of course the acting. Holy hell it was good. Now before I get into the the obvious choice, I just want to bring Robert Di Niro who I thought was absolutely amazing in his role with such a little time given. With that said it is Joaquin Phoenix is what makes this film. I have seen most of his film from The master to the gladiator. And with this film he has cemented as one of the best actor to grace the screen. He is absolutely hypnotic in the role that you began to cheer for him. At the end when the credits role this film will make you think for better or for worst. And I think that is what film should do. That's the power of art.

Style over substance
29 September 2019
Warning: Spoilers
It started really strong and I was beginning to get invested a lot. Especially due to the visuals and cinematography which was top notch. But the characters were so dumb and poorly written that it made no sense by the end about what the director vision was? Was he telling that cult is bad because pretty sure murdering 8 people while drugging them is not supposed to be enticing. Was he trying to say that anxiety or heartbreak can be overcome by joining a cult and burning your boyfriend alive? Yeah you can say he dint treat her right but the only worst thing I saw him do to her was miss her birthday. I couldn't understand the point of Dani's character. She is not a sociopath at the start but apparently dancing around with a group of women and being made a queen is all it takes. I also understand the she got a family in the end but even then this film is so self indulgent for the ending that it made no sense. Very poorly executed storyline. And the boys in this film are just a bunch of morons. They are just a plot point director uses to show how masculinity is bad and will get you killed while he glorifies a cult of people who have no hesitant in killing people. And never mind Pelle who is supposed to be the nice guy in the movie who brings his friends knowing they will get sacrificed has the most happy ending. Overall I dont get what the director thought when he wrote this film. I mean sure it has some amazing work camera and visual works but it genuinely feels like sadistic film with no real characters. Not saying you can't make a good film with that, just look at Shining. But like Kubrick you need to execute it perfectly or else you have a film with no real substance which unfortunately this film is.

Parasite (2019)
10/10
A film that manages to interrogate the choices every class makes while delivering a roller coaster of emotions for the audience
18 September 2019
I will just say this first. If you are planning to watch this film, stop right here and watch it now before reading anything regarding this film because trust me you want to watch this without knowing anything not even the synonyms.

Now, directed by Joon-ho Bong who also directed Memories of Murder and Snowpiercer, Parasite is a dark comedy thriller which mixes various other genre. Its really hard to describe this film. I would compare this with Quentin Taratino films like the title suggests. But even then this film has a lot of direct message to audience and themes which is very easy to notice. That aside Joon-ho Bong has also upped his game in terms of the structure and storytelling. So much so that at first viewing you won't notice the hidden details and metaphors this film presents. The name "parasite" is just one of them. At the end you will be thinking who the real parasites are. Is it the rich, the poor, their expendable need for a better living or the house itself? Acting wise I dint see a single false note by any actors. The main standout was of course the father played brilliantly by Kang-ho Song. Writing is however what makes this film so great. You can see when the director wrote this film he thought of everything. There is not a single loop hole. Every character choices make sense, everything falls into place even when it seems to bizarre yet it seems so completely realistic just because just how we got to that point.

There is so much this film tries to say and you can see the director succeeded it gloriously when you think about it. The social structure with the way we live, our understanding and psychology at looking at people who live differently, our priorities and what we value. Joon-Ho Bong makes sure viewers will think after each act is completed and make your own judgement of what happened. He has completely turned a genre on its head. A film about social class has never been made like this before.

Still, this film may not please to people who just want a happy ending feel good movie. Without spoiling anything till now I will say that the first half is completely different to the second half. If you are the type of person who can handle violence and shock in a film then I will recommend this for you. If you are the person who want something different and original other than what hollywood keeps throwing these days I will recommend this for you. If you think film are not just for entertainment but for the art itself I will recommend this for you. Film industry need to keep investing on visionary directors like Bong Zoon-Ho and you might just get a masterpiece like this once in a while.

Spider-Man 2 (2004)
10/10
A great drama film which has some comic book elements on it.
3 July 2019
Warning: Spoilers
Alright, as with what the other reviewer said, a 7.3 rating for this film is criminally low and I don't understand why this film is not mentioned alongside The Dark Knight and Richard Donner's Superman as the greatest comic book film of all time. Some might even put this on the top and it is hard to argue.

To sum it in simple term, this film has absolutely everything. Great fight sequence, awesome CGI and practical effects, amazing soundtrack, pitch perfect story, very well written protagonist and antagonist and hell even the cheesy sequence works because of Raimi's direction. But most of all what this has that other comic book film today try and fail is to have a heart. And this film has a lot of them. Take a example of that train sequence, while most CBM will might focus on good action on that scene , this film puts Peter's motivation and his conflicts before. Also the love story between Peter and MJ works so well because it is directly connected with the main plot of the film and it executes it perfectly till the very end.

While there have been many spider man film after this, nothing has been able to top it because nothing has been written as better than this film. It is that simple. The amazing actions and Raimi's use of real effects instead of using CG is just a cherry on top. SM 2 has aged like a fine wine and people should have no problem when it is mentioned as the greatest comic book film ever made.

What went wrong?
31 May 2019
Everything has been said about how bad season 7 and 8 turned out to be. And I don't see how I can write more than that already been discussed but this interview when breaking bad ended always lasted with me. So here is what I think went wrong for GOT summed up perfectly by a show runners who actually cares about his show.

Vince Gilligan( Breaking Bad creator) on how he wrote the show : People think of writing as dialogue and but to me writing is structured, dialogue is cherry on top. The real story telling is how structural it all feels like by connecting every character. Sometimes you think of a great scene, oh we really have a head on turtle and then have it blow off whatever but if you have to square pegs into round holes in order to get to that scene then you are doing it wrong. We questioned everything, we thought of every possibility but then we bet it against is it legitimate as to the characters forward momentum. We wanted to know where Walt's head at and we applied to it every other character. We had gotten attached to some big plan or some big set piece scene that we thought had to be there but the characters dint wanted to do what we wanted to do. As a show runners your story line don't mean anything if you don't know where your characters head at. There's very little of what we wanted, it was mostly of what would he do next. It was always step by step what in this position knowing what we know about this guy what is his next move. Balance of the show is taking him far enough, but not too far too fast.

''Hero''

Warning: Spoilers
I don't think any other title can be perfect for this episode. With all strongest character we are led to believe that will save the day and make the ultimate sacrifice since this show aired six years ago, Armin, the least strongest with all odds not favoring him, proves what it means to be the 'hero'.

The least most deserving person for the job and who has been useless for most part of the series gets to be the most powerful person of the series in the end. Well I can see why D&D chose Bran to be the King, it must have reminded of them.

Trial By ....
13 May 2019
Me : I wish to confess. D & D : You wish to confess?

( gazes out at the people who loved this season and gave this 10/10, who are taking such pleasure in his destruction.) Me: I made you know about this show. I made people like you know about this show with all the theories I shared and all the publicity it created. I should have let The Walking Dead destroy you all. D & D ; Do you wish to confess Me : Yes, Dan and Dave. I'm guilty. Guilty. Is that what you want to hear? D & D : So you confess of having huge expectation from us? Me : No, of that I'm innocent. I am guilty of a monstrous crime. I am guilty of being a fan your show. D & D : You are not on trial for being the fan of the show. Me : Oh, yes I am. I've been on trial for that ever since season 5. D&D : Have you nothing to say in your defense? Me : Nothing but this: I expected only a good ending,But I wish I dint.

( Turns to HBO) Me : Nothing would have given me more satisfaction than canceling your subscription for all those years not even deleting every s''t CW shows

( turns around all those who gave this 10/10) I wish I had enough poison for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it.

( Turns to D&D) I will not waste my last 8 years and I know I'll get no justice here, so I will let GRRM decide my faith, I demand the books!

Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)

What made this show great wasn't because of the big twist or shock value. It was because it MADE SENSE
3 May 2019
Warning: Spoilers
All right, the hack writers of this show who seem to think they are clever than everyone else and who seem to be in the delusion that they are better storyteller than GRRM needs to be fired right away. I heard a explanation for this episode by D and D that John killing NK would have been predictable. They might as well make Podrick the new ruler of westeror. Seems pretty shocking and unpredictable to the audience to me. You know what's the problem though? it doesnt make sense like your whole bloody script.

Many people also seem to think that Arya killing NK was the most GOT thing. IT IS NOT. You know why Ned getting killed worked? Because it was hinted through out the previous episodes that it was leading up to that exact moment. The death of Jon Arynn, him being hand of the king, Little Finger's arc, Ned's countless mistakes and his loyalty, Joffery always being a c''t It dint just came out of nowhere. And same goes for Red Wedding, it was hinted throughout and completed every arc in full circle.

Arya had no absolute connection to the WW storyline. However, the writers now seem to think that audience are bunch of idiots and can be clever by shocking everyone. Not only was it a waste of Arya's arc but it was also waste of Jon and Bran's arc. Problem is GRRM was so good in his writing that he made sure no matter how vile, twisted and unpredictable the end result turned out to be he din't take the audience for idiots. These pathetic showrunners are now running rampage over his works who have storytelling level of 7 year old.

Whatever, I am done with this show. Only gave it 4 stars due to acting of the cast and the music and some of the cool visuals. I urge everyone to who are as dissapointed as me to boycott this season. Cause you who want to be gets slapped in the face for having 8 years of expectation?

A movie that hits every note right
28 February 2019
I am gonna be short and sweet here. This is a fantastic film especially in today's context where people are using race bait to profit themselves. No doubt the academy got right with this one. The two leads are absolutely amazing in their roles where they perfectly complement the story playing a opposing nature to one another, every side characters are there to move the story forward and not just shoehorned. Editing is breathtakingly beautiful, script holds perfectly tightly til the very end(even when the credits role), cinematography is top notch, music fits the tone of the film very neatly. I tried real hard to nitpick few flaws with this one but its just not there. This is a great hybrid of road trip comedy and biographic drama. Applause yourselves whoever have been involved with this gem because this is how you use real race issue and its history in a film.

Din't get the Hype
2 January 2019
Firstly, I dint hated this film but I dint loved it either. Its not that bad of an attempt at comedy-horror.All the cast are very good, even Shraddha Kapoor(though someone like Alia or Deepika might have made the character even more interesting), songs are nice, moral is pretty good.

However, this movie lost me in the second half when they tried to get into supernatural territory. The last act was horrible. It was like they dint know what to do and added a social message to hide that. Apart from the lead actor every other character was undeveloped. Director just couldn't mix comedy and horror well.

Bhool Bhoolaiya can be taken as a great example for a well made horror-comedy film as well as good social commentary film. This film however just tries to mix everything and falls flat.

It's a new era for the Apes and hopefully the way they make blockbuster.
13 October 2017
First of all after seeing so many bad reviews given to this movie by some IMDb users with many giving it one star I just had to write this review. I just want to ask those people what do you people even consider a good movie. Seriously? I want to examine are they just a bunch of trolls or are they so brainwashed by Hollywood's mediocrity of giving them spoon fed blockbuster like transformers, fast and furious and marvel franchise that when a masterpiece does comes along does it fly just by their head? Well either of those must had to happen here. Now to review it.

Directed by Matt Reeves, War For the Planet Of The Apes brings an epic conclusion to the Planet Of the Apes trilogy. Now how do I describe this film without using the word "epic" because this film screams epicness from the opening scene to the last.

Led by a powerful performance by Andy Serkins, Caesar is more emotional and devastated than ever before. The opening very much decides his journey and it all makes perfect sense with why he is doing it. The way we see his character develop from a innocent infant from the very first part to the beast who has only vengeance in his mind is what every main character from any franchise should aspire to be in context to the character development.

Rest of the cast all give solid performance led by Woody Harrelson who plays a perfect bad guy but with some interesting development throughout the film.

I think what makes this film standout from the rest of the blockbuster is the emotional grip this film delivers at every scene. There isn't a single forced or dull moment in here and all ties perfectly with the plot. And that's very impressive to do in a 2hr 20min. film. Action scenes are very minimal considering for the title with a war and described as a action film but when it comes it will leave you on the edge of your seat.

I would like to thank Matt Reeves and screenwriter Mark Bomback for their brilliant vision and the way executed this. Bravo, this is what a summer blockbuster should be.

The themes they tackle with their story is very deep and powerful. Particularly the way take Caesar into the situation he has never been in before. Its just not about his vengeance but the people he has cared and the ones he meets.

Lastly I highly recommend this movie to everyone who loves cinema. Don't expect a transformers kind of action scenes with no dialogue or you'll be disappointed. Just seat and be patient and you will be rewarded with a masterful film making that oozes greatness. And to those giving this 1 star you are what's wrong for film these days. Just stick to your mediocre Michael Bay actions and leave this one alone if think this deserved this 1 star rating. The cinematography alone makes it 7/10 film if you don't liked the story or expecting more actions.

A Masterpiece of the highest order
4 October 2017
First let me just say that I am not going to spoil any of the plot points of this movie as the director has himself insisted not to and I urge the reviewers to come to respect his wish.

Now let me just start by saying the original Blade Runner was one of the most influential sci-fi film to be ever made. Some people may not like it as it is very slow paced and deeply philosophical and I respect their opinion but you cannot deny its legacy. As it so happens Blade Runner 2049 might just fall on the same category.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve who directed Incedies, Prisoners(another masterpiece), Arrival, Sicario and Enemy has outdone himself. This is seriously his best film to date. Even though this is a sequel to a movie he wasn't involved in whatsoever he has managed to expand its universe extremely elegantly and marked his directorial trademark in it. I won be surprised if he is put in the same bracket as Kubrick, Spielberg, Tarantino, Scorsese, Eastwood in the coming years.

Talking about greatness we have director of photography propelled by Roger Deakins who already had his hands on Shawshawnk Redemption, No Country for Old Men, Skyfall, The Big Lebowski and Fargo to just name a few and to think he has never won an Oscar despite being nominated 13 times. Well this is about to change this year or you cannot ever take Academy seriously because I strongly believe this is his best work. The way he uses color palette is quite remarkable to watch and it might just be one of the best looking film to ever exist.

Acting wise Harrison Ford gives one of his performance in a long time. You can just feel he loved working on this film(unlike that reboot on 2015). I have always been a fan of Ryan Gosling since Drive(another Neo-Noir masterpiece) and after watching this I am convinced that he is one of the best actor working today. Jared Leto gives a another stellar performance as expected from an Academy winner. Dave Bautista, Robin Wright, Ana de Armas all are impressive with their given role.

Another thing that made the original Blade Runner so iconic was the soundtrack. And with this film it is no exception. Though this has Hans Zimmer Benjamin Wallfisch collaborating it feels a individual work like the first one.

What else can I say? No praise is enough for what I just witnessed. This is one of those films that will inspire people to be filmmakers, that will make people realize why we go to cinemas and spent our hard earned cash, that will continue to put cinemas as art forms. Just go to the biggest theater possible and witness an piece of modern art put on by extremely visionary and talented people. You will not regret it. 10/10

"The greatest trick the Devil ever pulled was convincing the world he didn't exist."
11 September 2017
I think we all can agree that Rick and Morty is one of the most unique show to ever put on TV. This episode simplifies that statement.

We are led to believe that it will be another Rick and Morty adventure but in typical Rick and Morty fashion it isn't predictable from the get go. I would love to explain the some plot points as this is a review but you have to watch it to know how complex and deep it is. All I can say is enjoy one of the best 22 minutes on TV story.

Game of Thrones: The Spoils of War (2017)
Season 7, Episode 4
Best Of The Season
5 August 2017
All has been said about how GOT has been losing its quality since season 4 and I kinda agree to some extent but you also have to keep in mind that the show is about to come to an end and they have to rush certain things. And as long as they keep pulling up episodes like this I have no problem how the writer deal with things.

The spoils of War is certainly one of the best episodes this series has put up. Certainly topped Hardhome and is on par with Battle of the bastards and Winds Of Winter(tho I think The children and Rains Of Castamere are both on another level). What this episode does is it puts war in the center with political aspects on the background in a classic game of thrones way. And with one of the best CGI and action sequence the creator pull off yet another masterpiece which shall make what's to come more interesting and nail biting.

These Violent Delights Have Violent Ends
7 December 2016
After True Detective season 1 which was the best season I've witnessed two years ago I was looking for a show which was horrifying ,beautiful ,mysterious ,complex and unique at the same time as parallel and close to TD.

Now let me just get into the review of the show. I see few of here have given this show negative review based on the fact that they dint understand the show or the found the show to be over complex. I can assure you that first few episodes indeed consist of some complicated plots and it will be hard to grasp on what is actually going on. You may think about giving up on the show as visuals and acting might be the only thing that have been holding your interest.

But as soon as you progress into the fifth episode you will begin to realize the story line which you thought were tedious and spiritless are starting to make a whole lot of sense and you will be intrigued by the whole concept of the show. The twist and the scenario will be become appalling to watch. Stories leading from a-z seems logical and masterfully executed.

Another thing that makes this show good is the acting. I read an article where Evan Rachel Wood calling West World Olympic's for acting and she is not wrong. This show shows how acting should be done and executed. Leading the pack Anthony Hopkins proves why he still is one of finest actors around. Another major star was of course Evan Rachel Wood who steals the show alongside Hopkins by making the audience have sympathy on her character despite not being a human but an host. Thandie Newton and Jeffery Wright both are another stand out as they both have own story line which leads the show into epic proportion. And how can I miss Ed Harris who plays the character of Man In Black as a mysterious evil bad-ass making the show more interesting than it already is. James Marsden ,Angela Sarafyan ,Jimmi Simpson ,Ben Barnes all play their character to perfection. In fact what makes this show so good is all the characters who aren't lead also play their part flawlessly.

The budget of hundred million given for this show was well utilized. In fact the production behind the show should be applauded. The visuals in this show is better than some of the big budget movies and should be a pinnacle for TV show even for HBO. Writers and the creator leave quite a mark in every episode by delivering some of the finest story telling and complex plot mixing the sci-fi elements with horror and western. All leading up to be a brilliant and unique show.

My over all verdict leads right back to my first paragraph of this review. I have finally found "that" show. While True Detective still is the best single season I've ever watched ,West World is a very close second. From visuals to storytelling ,from acting to major twists this show scores a solid 10/10 in everything. So watch this show to witness some of the finest television works you've ever seen.

Fresh ,original ,dramatic ,dark ,funny and great
19 June 2016
Warning: Spoilers
This is my first review ever on IMDb board but I had make one just for this show.

I have never been invested in any show such as this. Every episode has been great so far. Sure it starts as just as a regular drama show but once you go past that phase you will be hooked.

The dark comedy of this show is what it makes it so special. So many things are happening with each characters that it'll be hard to focus and pick on just one. All the characters apart from few are really have been stand out. Lip ,Fiona ,Frank ,Steve/Jimmy ,Kevin all have great story lines. The twist are also done in persistent pace with proper back up. Comedic and dark moments are so excellently blend together that you want more and more.

Lastly If you are looking for a new refreshing and original dramatic show ,then think no more and give this a try.
