The 100 (2014)
Great story, could have been done better
Great story really, even if scientifically inaccurate, i like it. This story gets to a deeper indescribable level of you, questioning and putting human in hard conditions under microscope. A truly addictive show.
However, the writing was terrible and no clear characteristics of any one, the characters all sort of constantly repeat each others in different situations and so many repeated small chats between different characters
Also it's so obvious the show wants to surprise you ALL THE TIME and PROLONG as much as possible, so all the characters continuously make stupid horrible decisions which lead to unnecessary more dramatic changes.
This show could have much much better.
Paterson (2016)
This movie kept a smile on my face for some time.
I watched this movie expecting to not like it as it seemed a little boring and to my surprise it was exactly the opposite.
It is a very nice and visually attractive movie, and joyful to remember.
Artistic in almost every way, the concept and poetry, the music, the pictures, the bus rides, the water falls, the pauses between small talks, the black and white circles and lines, all very beautiful.
The main character Paterson is interesting as someone who doesn't act so much in causing changes in his surroundings, but instead, he prefers to witness and embrace them in the very ordinary yet unique way of his.
I watched this movie yesterday in the morning, and for the rest of the day by remembering small details from the movie i was able to keep a smile.
So, unless you're expecting a dramatic story or any sort of action, this a very beautiful movie.
Untamed Heart (1993)
Creepy
I had 3 types of emotions while watching this movie:
1. CREEPED OUT: every time he told her how he followed her everyday and that he enters her room while she's asleep, this is no romance it's just sick
2. Disgusted: every time she wasn't annoyed that he has been following her around
3. Bored: the rest of times.
My only favorite scene in this movie was the look on her father's face when he found out his Christmas tree was damaged :D
Afrah AlQoba (2016)
loved it.
Taken from the original novel of the same name by Naguib Mahfouz, it's a story about a group of theatre actors made to play roles about their reality. And as the writer digs deeper into their real stories, you start to amazingly witness the denial as almost everyone refuses to admit the reality of their actions and decisions.
I loved watching how the same events differ when told from the perspective of different characters. But because telling the same complicated story with different details every time without confusing the viewer is not an easy job, at some point, the series stopped feeling as wholesome and felt more like separated plots.
The picture i must say is absolutely gorgeous, the colors, and little details in the clothes, walls, and furniture are so beautiful. I also loved the backstage set so much.
Mona Zaki here as "Taheya" was absolutely stunning. I love her scenes with her mother (Sawsan Badr) and sisters, the dancing, the singing with Tarek (Eyad Nassar), encountering with Omu Hani (Salwa Ottman).
Haza Al Masaa: Later Tonight (2017)
Beautiful.
The way this series portrayed the variety and complexity of human feelings is just so beautiful. The music too and the picture are so attractive.
Le A'la Se'r (2017)
NONSENSE
I was disappointed! The main cast of this show are way better than this
No built-up, no character development, in fact no characters at all, just different names given to different people to basically move around and mumble things that has nothing to do with anything. This show makes no sense. It had good basics to begin with yet it failed to use any of them.
The story is exactly: Husband cheats on his wife, the wife gets a divorce, couple of years later she forgives him and they live happily ever after. How or why did she decide to forgive him? Not mentioned. Why did her family suddenly turn up against her? Not mentioned. Why did they turn back to support her? Not mentioned.
They slightly (and terribly) mention something about how the husband reshaped her personality then disliked his own creation and cheated on her. But still could've been done much better.
The only reason i gave it 2/10 was because well 1/10 felt so harsh.
Segn El Nessa (2014)
UNDERRATED!
My favorite thing about this show is simply summed up in the title! Now we've seen dozens of really good scenes and plots of prisons and prisoners, but they were always men. Presenting such a major drama show about the lives of several women in and out of jail and how they spend their times from the perspective of both the prisoners/criminals and the jail keepers (which are all women) is rare in general and -with this quality close-up, almost a first time in the egyptian drama.
My next favorite thing is almost everything else. From the writing to the direction to the acting to the styling, not a single step that i dislike.
I love the way the show portrayed a combination of complicated feelings: Passion, betrayal, revenge, fear, anger, attachment, self-judgment and self-acceptance. It also puts a huge spotlight on different society standards in modern Egypt.
Although some non-major role actors did a noticeably terrible job, Nelly Karim as Ghalia, in my opinion, she was incredible to the point that all her other roles in other TV shows except for "Zat" would seem awful if compared to this one! Dorrah too was surprisingly excellent, and Ruby perfectly played the housemaid. However, my favorite characters were: Zeinat, played by Nesreen Amine, and Aziza, by Salwa Khattab.
This show definitely deserves 10/10!
