Khamakha (2016)
Bollywood in short?!
A cute Slice-of-life short which doesn't make you miss Bollywood at all!! Heck it could be the T20, and who really wants to sit for 3 hours if you get the same feel good much faster?! An unintended bus ride through the Marathi hinterland between Bombay and Poona (Yes Siree - I shall stick to the 'originals', the judgemental clichés in the film, notwithstanding!!) with a gentle matching music score, pairs up a Hindi reader with an obviously B-school abroad accent! The bus doesn't stick to the expressway and neither does the plot and never drags! You have a gentle smile all through the beginning (from wishing that you may now deign to travel in local buses if such attractive ladies are to be found :) ) and sometimes a gentle laugh; all too frequently nodding in perfect understanding of how judgemental we can all become! I was thrilled when this went on to grab the Filmfare award - to realize that We've matured enough to enjoy without the villain the vamp and the item number!! A wistful travel tale - wish for more like these!!
