The Afterparty: Danner's Fire (2023)
Unnecessary episode
The only thing to save this episode was Travis. Danner is irrelevant to this season and they tried to make her important. Stretching out the season isn't always a good thing. They should have stuck to this season's murder. Disappointing episode that had no point.... It has a point, but it's just filler. Travis is hilarious. But the entire episode seems so out of place and juvenile. But juvenile in the sense that it's unnecessarily lewd. I watch it every week when it airs, so not having another episode to watch has left a bitter taste. Looking forward to the finale. Would have been happier with 8 episodes instead of 10.
Violent Night (2022)
Updated Die Hard
Some of it was very cliche and predictable, but still enjoyable.
I knew what the characters were going to say before they said it. I could tell how each bad guy would die. The story was simple, and not the bulk of the movie. The action carried the film. This was a plus for me. If I'm watching an action film, I like to see action. The family was not touchy-feely so the movie wasn't very sappy. I would have liked more of an origin story for Santa. Maybe a prequel.
They took the best parts of every action movie, pieced it together, and made a full length film.
More action than Die Hard, more gore than Home Alone, darker humor than Elf. Overall a great watch.
Ginny & Georgia (2021)
Ginny is the worst
Ginny is an obnoxious, spoiled, privileged brat. She wants so badly for her mother to tell her the truth and then continues a have a complete meltdown because she can't handle to truth. She's self absorbed and judgmental. She's "tortured", but her only problems are teenage angst or problems she creates herself.
She's the worst part of the show and if there's going to be a season 3, she needs an attitude adjustment.
I thought Georgia was going to be unlikeable, but she is a 10 compared to Ginny's awful character. The show really shows how incapable people are of facing the consequences of their actions.
Resident Evil (2022)
Insolent children
Main characters are entitled brats, even as adults. If this is how kids are being raised to behave, we're all in trouble. There's a way to have characters questions what is going on around them without making them seem like petulant children throwing a temper tantrum.
"I want answers" -but she won't shut up long enough for them to answer! "They're controlling you"- while she tells her sister how to feel and think. Obnoxious.
Show is a little confusing on the timeline and there are very different settings, almost like they couldn't decide what kind of show they wanted it to be. Definitely not on the same level as the film franchise. Disappointed.
Only Murders in the Building: Persons of Interest (2022)
Terrible casting
Amy Schumer and Michael Rapaport are terrible choices and immediately decrease the quality of the show.
The show feels like it's going in a different direction from last season.
I hope Amy doesn't make too many appearances, or that's the end of the show for me.
Van Helsing (2016)
Wish I stopped watching
First season was good. The second brought in a lot of new characters that were just ok. Third season really lost my interest. And the fourth made me cancel my season pass.
They should have never killed off Scarlet and Axel doesn't have enough screen time.
Sam and scab over stay their welcome by 4 seasons. Neither are watchable characters and they make terrible antagonists. Glad Julius lasted a while.
Don't even get me started on the 4th season. Why. Why revamp the show (pun not intended, maybe). Are the new Van Helsing sisters just a way to bring in young millennials? I don't get their appeal, they're very unlike-able and unwatchable. Had to fast forward a lot of season 4. It's like the writers always had an end game in mind, but the execution is awful and I'm not convinced the story line tracks.
