Children of the Corn (2020)
Another Shudder Masterpiece
This was an awful remake of the original. I can see why Shudder is going under, they keep creating horrible movies. Everything they do turns into trash. It was a bad retelling, bad change and the little girl who replaced Isaac was very annoying, she reminded me of Greta Thunberg for some reason. He who walks was also a joke, they should have called this something else not children of the corn. It was more accurate to how adults today think in regards to children in these days, giving them too much power when they still need to mature and grow. A huge climate crisis public service announcement. Hey Shudder, stop making movies and just show other peoples.
Halloween Ends (2022)
The reviews aren't wrong.
I cant believe when they reignited the franchise that this was how they would end it. My guess is their heads/ego's were so inflated from all the praise of the 2018 movie that they could do no wrong. They did wrong, very wrong.
I don't need to say the same thing the majority of the reviews say. I just need to add to the mounting complaints about the movie to make sure it is known how horrendous it really was. It is exactly as bad as people say it is, even worse. I just feels like they had no direction and threw something together on a drug fueled night or they wanted to see if they could make the worst addition to the entire franchise. Just convince yourself Michael died in the basement in 2018, that's more of a humane way to end this story. I promise.
The Midnight Club (2022)
Not as great as the hype, disappointingly boring
I just finished watching over half the season of "are you afraid of the dark"...wait I mean "the midnight society"....dammit, "the midnight club" and it's pretty boring. His tone is on brand, lots of monologues and over blown drama with not so great actors. This is the new normal which is a sad day for horror. It's hard to find something creepy when it is made for people who are afraid of their shadow. I'm sure Netflix has lots to say because Flanagan does know how to tell a story, just doesn't know how to pace out a show to keep your attention. I would love to know what makes this "scary", are you afraid of the dark at least had clever and creepy stories. I guess Flanagan new demographic is over dramatic teens who love jump scares and obvious repetition. Feeding the bandwagon masses only ruins continues to ruin horror.
Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
This movie stole my soul
I'm not going to try and convince you not to watch this movie but I will warn you how terrible it was. The story wasn't set up to take place after the 2nd movie, if so the director didn't watch it, the new creeper is garbage, J. B was way better. Jarreau's movements, acting & new look/makeup don't hold up to what we are used to. This is far worse then the 3rd one, it feels lazy and cheap. The acting is laughable, the casting was dreadful and the story was dumb. I feel bad for Victor Salva, they took his creation and destroyed it. The effort behind it reminds me of the new Texas chainsaw movie but worse.
Don't listen to these clowns who go on about how great it was to offset the low ratings, just because it has horror elements. These guys are what's wrong with the rating system, they don't know what a good movie is. Sure it has blood and weapons and his truck but if that's all you need for a good movie then sure maybe this is for you. Also its not a reboot, its a continuation, this goes to show how knowledgeable some people are. There's a reason its getting a 1 rating across the board, at the end of the day look at the people who took the time to give feedback on how bad it was instead of just rating it, it's a warning.
I would have given this movie 0/10 if I could. I love horror so much but seems like everyone says that these days so take this at face value or don't but at least I can say you've been warned. Maybe you're that one person who will like it and everyone else is crazy. Good luck.
