Barbie (2023)
It was pretty good but not worthy of the hype
Barbie was an entertaining movie, but was definitely not worth the hype that accompanied the film. The messages the movie wanted to share were so on the nose and explicit that it became jarring and weird. The movie also meandered from place to place and didn't seem to have a purpose for the majority of its run time.
Ryan Gosling was hilarious though and stole every scene he was in. Several of the cameos were also great.
Had fun, but wouldn't really recommend it as a 'must watch'. Mostly watched it as the first part of the Barbenheimer meme, so it was worth it for that reason at least.
7/10.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power: Alloyed (2022)
Better than the rest of the series. Still not as good as it should be.
The finale was decent and a big improvement over the boring episode that came before. Finally something was happening and it was decently made. Although I still don't get what Saurons plan was. Why was he helping Celebrimbor, only to abandon his project when Galadriel found out about him? Why didn't he just kill Galadriel or something? Now he just appeared there to help the elves make the Rings, but he wasn't there to corrupt them, so what was the point of his quest?
It all seems very far fetched and it's pretty weird that Sauron just proposed to Galadriel to become his wife. Really? A Sauron and Galadriel love story? Odd choices all around.
Still, had some fun with this episode so a 7/10 for this episode and a 6/10 for the rest of the show.
The Expanse: Dulcinea (2015)
Solid start of the series
Gave this episode a 10/10 to compensate for the people rating this 2/10, 4/10, complaining the episode doesn't spoonfeed you all the answers right away. How can you complain about 1 episode not giving all the answers, when you can't even be bothered to finish the season? That's like stopping Murder on the Orient Express after 5 minutes, because they didn't start with saying who the murderer is. Have patience for gods sake, the show answers everything you could ask during the season.
The episode itself wasn't perfect, but a solid start to the series. It has a big twist moment at the end that I really didn't see coming and I respect the series for showing balls so early in its runtime.
Inside Amy Schumer (2013)
Joke stealing trash.
You only need a few minutes on the internet to know Amy Schumer is a thief and steals all her jokes from other people, just to make them completely unfunny.
Worst comedian ever.
Vikings: Ghosts, Gods and Running Dogs (2019)
Some bad, some good
The series is definitely going downhill, but it's still somewhat enjoyable.
The worst part is the role of Torvi that solely exists to give the shows creator's daughter a job. She acts so bad, but still has a way too big role in the series.
The good part was that Ubbe is looking more and more like Ragnar. He acts like him, he talks like him and he's starting to look very much like the old Ragnar we know. Love to see this for this character.
The Witcher (2019)
The first season feels like a (good) warm-up
I really enjoyed the first season, but I have the feeling it was a giant set-up for the acgual story. Even the intro of the last episode showed all the symbols from the previous intro's, to combine them in a proper Witcher logo, as if to say: the first 7 episodes where leading to the actual story.
Nevertheless I really enjoyed it and can't wait for season 2. The way the ghouls were introduced also gets me hyped: the war causes tons of monsters to appear.
Only downside was that for people who didn't read the books or played the game, everything can be a bit confusing. A little more world building would be nice. I can already see myself explaining everything to my girlfriend when she starts watching the show.
The Witcher: Of Banquets, Bastards and Burials (2019)
The timeline is completely clear.
I don't understand people complaining about the timeline. It's obvious Yen started years before Geralts story in Blaviken begins. Both are moving at a different pace to the moment they meet each other. Then they'll get together and move to the timeline of Ciri.
They mention the time in nearly every episode, with someone mentioning the Lioness of Cintra (being a child, winning her first battle) or someone saying '10 years have passed'.
Episode itself was great: good action, good story and good twists.
Game of Thrones: The Long Night (2019)
Stop complaining.
I share the view that at least one or two main characters extra had to die this episode, but come one... a 1 out of 10? You're just acting like entitled children. The cinematography, action, effects and everything else was amazing.
You people seem to forget that plot armour happens all the time in movies. Don't remember Aragorn and Gimli single handendly killing hundreds of uruks on that bridge without taking a scratch? Or Luke Skywalker having every shot miss on his ship?
For me this episode is nearly perfect. I'd give it a 9.5/10.
The Haunting of Hill House: Witness Marks (2018)
I think I wet myself
Good thing my girlfriend didn't want to watch the series anymore because she was scared or else she would've questioned my masculinity when I cried out like a little girl at... that moment.
