Summer Love (2006)
You have to be in a certain frame of mind...
This came on some OTA digi-net channel one night. The commercials for it touted Val Kilmer and Linda, so I decided to give it a go. Well, Kilmer certainly earned whatever they paid him. He had no lines because he was freaking DEAD the whole movie. I had to watch this thing twice by myself and then once again with my wife, and it was the same reaction. "What? Who? What was that? What just happened?" I seriously think psychedelic mushrooms were involved in the making of this pile of stuff. I kind of like it for that reason alone. Watch it when you're high, or something. I don't do that anymore, so I had to do it straight, and it was a struggle. I still am struggling with the guy setting his head on fire. I have to clean the cat litter boxes tonight, and am actually looking forward to it for a chang.
Tentacoli (1977)
Maybe I'm biased, but I find it watchable
I saw this as a young teen when it first came out, so that may have affected my feelings for the film. Even now, I can always watch it when I find it's on.
You won't find too many bad movies with this many A-List actors (Huston, Fonda,Winters, heck, I'll throw in Bo Hopkins as well), so it's sort of worth watching just for that reason alone, even though they seemed to be going through the motions for the most part, though Shelley Winters was her usual late-career frantic self.
Anyway, it's the sort of blatant "Jaws" rip-off (or homage, if you like) that everyone was trying to cash in on back then, but it does have its suspenseful moments, and manages to be watchable as long as you don't look too closely at it.
