Escape from Pretoria (2020)
A well made fact based independent prison escape movie
Daniel Radcliffe really shines through in this performance as an anti apartheid activist who plans to escape through cleverly devised methods - The film is set throughout jail and is very involving.
In different areas I would give the following rating -
Acting: 8/10
Direction: 7.5/10
Script:7/10
Overall: 7.5/10
Castlevania (2017)
Not very good
The animation comes across as quite stilted, this may be a common practice within anime (I wouldn't know) but to me this just smacks of laziness on the part of the animators - When a character is talking there needs to be a range of movements within the facial expressions and body movements that exert emotion rather than just having the mouth moving.
Furthermore on this note, the background characters will be frozen still and don't have any motion whatsoever.
But the worst thing in my opinion has got to be the voice acting, it is cheesy and lacks in emotion, tone, inflection and all of the other things that a good voice actor does to bring a character to life.
Overall if I was to divide the ratings into separate sections it would be the following -
Animation: 5/10
Voice Acting: 2/10
Direction: 6.5/10
Story: 6/10
Overall: 3.5/10
Africa's Super Snake (2017)
It was all set up
This documentary clearly set up the snake killing domesticated animals who had no chance of survival in the first place - This including a chicken coop, a rabbit among others unfortunate animals.
Nature is and can be a cruel and violent place, but the difference is that what happens in nature is that an animal can survive and the outcome of a prey vs predator situation is random. The animals set up to be killed in this production were domesticated and hence had no natural inclination towards fleeing a situation which they would perceive as dire, besides being morally disgusting it doesn't make it a true nature documentary either.
It's just a macabre set up by morally depraved humans all in the name of entertainment. I wouldn't be surprised if the snake was a domesticated one as well considering all the animals it was shown killing were.
