Gali Guleiyan (2017)
Difficult to comprehend, a lot of topics touched, but overall a delight to watch
This movie is a bit different and to be honest I really couldn't understand this movie completely I don't know what exactly the director wanted to debate in this movie there are arrays of topics that I could see and observe and some of the most important topics I think the director has tried to give the audience knowledge about all the prospective arounding loneliness household violence why reason and butcher's life and poverty and a child will to have an independence.
When we talk about the central character I think there are not one single character in the movie it's not just the Manoj Vajpayee playing the central late also the father figure it's also the child the elder child and somewhere important the mother role is also.
The movie starts with the loneliness depiction of Manoj Bajpai how lonely he is he his family has moveed on from Hemant is now very much successful recently successful living in at a poors area in Delhi congested area of purani Delhi which is unclean and bad.
Then there is talk about wirism where in the child and his friend as well as this Manoj Bajpai character also likes to speak into other people's life this is Vajpayee gets to know about the affair that a lot of people.
Now this lonely person is worried about the child mental health as well as physical health wear in the violence is being inflicted over the child by his dominant and violent and fears father.
You wants to save this child from the atrocities but he is unable to because the character he himself as is not very clean and very much respected in fact it is opposite the neighbourhood doesn't like a man even though he wants to stand up against the right thing the neighbourhood want give any sort of backing to his righteous move.
The character is open talks about how the neighbourhood does not care about the bad things that are happening they are just being the new expectators these are morons waiting bad things to happen with themselves only then they considered reacting or responding.
It also talk about how parenting effects the child mental health cheating the partner with someone else by getting into family in a family where in the father is carefree even when the mother is 9 months pregnant and good have the baby anytime the delivery that takes place is very much unsuccessful the child born is still born and all of this very much affects the mental health of the elder child who is now old enough to understand the relationship.
Moving on I think the other thing that we can discuss upon her his kind of.
Gadar 2 (2023)
Poorly choreographed action scenes weak story line and great acting by Sunny Deol
I think the movie of Gadar 2 was built for those who were in prequel which is the first part the one I would surely say that the gather to has overly dramatic action scenes which don't just same visually bad but also same very in effective I think it's because he was careless as Mr Sunny Deol with its 2.5 kg weight of arm will handle the action scenes all by himself and his expressions not just facial but I find the movie of Gadar 2 as sort of a movie made in 1990 is also 1980 whose story line romantic scenes as well as action scenes + the acting courses done which is not relevant to the current times.
Permanent Roommates (2014)
Journey of a (very) simple guy to get a modern woman in her life, and marry her and her parents
This series was continuously in my watchlist for the last many years. But I didn't care to watch it, maybe because it was not matching the mental levels of mine. I didnt want to watch any web-series or movie that influence me towards romance and tell me that love is really beautiful. Now that I have come out of my zone wherein I hated the word love, I now seemed eligible or rather interested in watching this masterpiece, as many of the appreciating people call it.
This series revolve around an analyst guy, who's now a senior analyst in Wipro company. He was going to USA for some company related work, but has asked to stay back here in India. WHY? Because he fell in lovie with a girl. At first he didn't have any intentions to make it a relationship sort of thing, but as his dates came by he started to realize that yes he wants her in her life!
But then, eventually he had to shift to US, not for a moneth or two, but for 3 years. And in these 3 years, he really remained honest with her, and wanted just her, talked to her every night and didn't think of cheating on her.
Now he comes back to India, and talks about marriage with her girlfriend who's not at all ready!
He starts appealing to her, but eventually in the process he realizes, he himself is not ready for this responsibility. The girl now agrees, but the guy disapproves. In the meantime, this girl gets pregnant.
The role and support of the family in this entire situation is finely depicted, I won't say it looks realistic, because there were mild confrontation between the families and within family. This is not how things proceed in India, for the most part of it.
So yes, this story was interesting, and what I noticed and liked more is that the intelligent writing, and characters such as the Purshottam made it way more delightful to watch. There were one or two filler episode here and there, but it didn't bore because the writing and acting was so good.
Life of Pi (2012)
Stranded in Ocean with a Lion. Amazing concept, Cinematography.
Recently, I saw an award winning movie named, "The Elephant Whisperer". This movie made me feel a strong conect with the elephant.
However, this feeling of getting connected feeling with the aanimals throughh afilm is not new, or first time. But definitely it is rare.
The first time I fot this feeling was watching a Jackie Shroff movie where a a black dog saves the family of his owner from a lot of troubles sacrificing his own life.
Post this movie, $LIFE OF PIE" has given me this kind of feeling.
But only to a wider extent. How do I define "wider"?
Well, in most such movies where there the director established aconnnect with the animal - it's mostly with the pet animals, or incase wild animals - these animals would be very calm and loving.
In this movie, however, the relationship between the protagonist and the wild animal - Lion is that of the prey and predator. However, thse human with its own intelligence is somehow able to winover his fear and struggles to keep up with living with such wild creature.
This sort of relationship, is unique.
Again, talking about the acting skills in the movie - OH MY GOD ".
DEV PATEL is extraordinary. Irfan Khan is so natural, yte effective in his delivery.
The set used, the cinematography and VFX all are so naturalistic & immersing that it makes you want more of such movies to watch.
Slumdog Millionaire (2008)
Fictional story, but with depth in reality
The movie basically shows a young Indian boy, as the story is set in the Mumbai slum area. This boy, whose very poor, lost his ammi to a violent riots He along with his brother try to make both ends meet by trying multiple jobs - some clean, whereas other lying in grey or dark grey area.
Eventually, the elder brother of our protagonist, Salim goes into working for a gangster of the area. All of the criminal activities are done by him.
Jamal gets separated from his brother - due to clash for Latika (a girl who Jamal loves).
Later, his brother, Salim helps Latika to get back to Jamal.
Meanwhile, the protagonist Jamal, goes on to playing the "Who Wants To Be A Millionare?" where he keeps on answering to the questions correctly.
This so happens, because of the sheer dedication and awareness of Jamal. The host of the show also didn't want him to win, but "It is written" as they say in the movie.
Amazing concept.
However, one thing to note is, according to my own limited experience - people coming from such low economic status even rarely don't get to know so much. Hence, the character of the protagonist is just bit over the top.
On the other hand, the craft of the movie - its direction, constumes, music, & photography is such that it does actually reflect the suburbs of Mumbai pretty well. It's actually feels like this.
This small criticism of mine can be countered by the statement that - Infact the protagonist is not that smart. He doesn't know everything. But he has been lucky with the set of questions he has been asked. Well, because, "It Is Written".
M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story (2016)
Persistence, paitence and calmness. I'm fan of Dhoni and Sushant.
Commentary on movie, M. S. Dhoni, the Untold Story:
In India, the craze of cricket sport is highest. It is so high, that I can safely say, "cricket is considered as religion, not simply a sport".
Economically, we can validate this craze by looking at the funds that the different cricketing boards have. India's cricket authority board, BCCI has astronomical amount of funds - maximum of all, and even larger than ICC (World's Cricket Authority).
Politically, it's importance is also very great. The politicians never fail to congratulate Indian team for their performance on their winnings. Jay Shah, son of Amit Shah was made as the President of the BCCI seeing the vastness of the board.
Socially, the craze of cricket is so high that, the religiously clashing groups - Hindus and Muslims come close and united during matches against Pakistan.
Environmentally, the world of cricket creates tons of pollution in one single match, due to the scale at which it is organized. Ranging from power consumption, fire crackers, vehicular emissions, plastic/non-biodegradable wastes, etc., all these become reasons for the severe environmental impact.
Coming back to movie, and MS, I'd say, this one movie was able to depict the struggle of a commonner kid, who lacks facilities and faces alot of problems in receiving his selection at the Indian Team. There is cut-throat competition, Yuvi makes it before MS, due to excellent performance given by him. MS doesn't loses his calm, he is very persistent and also works at Railways. His dedication help him take a big decision, of leaving the job and taking up cricket as his career, which later turned out pretty well for not just him, but for India as well.
The role is well displayed by Sushant, who's all the time sincere looking as Mahi does, and his also very calm and gentle.
A great movie to watch.
Taare Zameen Par (2007)
Dyslexia, Inspiring, Empathize with weak
Commentary on movie, Taare Zameen Par
The disease of dyslexia was less known to most Indian households when this movie came in. It was new, and a kind of concept for movie ahead of its time.
The acting done by Aamir Khan and Darsheel Safary was off the roof. It was absolutely convincing, and infact the parents role played by the actors was equally convincing.
This movie shaked the parents from inside, which helped them to empathise more with their children, specially those who are weak mentally.
It is said that, to solve a problem, we first need to identify what it is exactly. This movie enabled even the less educated class to become considerate of understanding "mental weakness" as a "dyslexic disorder".
Movies do affect the society. And when a movie like this comes, it does help in believing in the movie culture.
I'd treat dyslexic kids with more empathy and hence I think this is really helpful.
Avatar (2009)
Transfer conciousness into a non-living object
Commentary on movie, Avatar
This is a science-fiction movie, which highlights the cruel face of humans and their lust for power and control over all other beings.
The science shown in the movie, is about a technology that the researchers and scientists have discovered and developed with which one can transfer the conciousness of a normal human being into the avatar of a different species in a far world.
At first, friendship is developed with that species, but eventually this friendship is capitalised for the benefit of human species. We humans are amazing at becoming unthoughtfully inhumane, destructive and greedy. Kaam, Krodh, Moh and Lobh are charactersitics of bloody humans, who are nothing but a curse to the mother earth.
I'm thankful to my parents for raising me in a way where I have no liking for the animal based food.
I'm thankful to my upbringing that I have traits of Karuna towards other beings.
The movie was far ahead of its time, the director of this movie is a gem - Mr. James Cameron. He has done some crazy things in life like diving deepest into the ocean.
The movie was highest grosser movie at the time for a reason.
Bhaukaal (2020)
Story of Muzzafarnagar crime , Thrilling , Not Excellent
Bhaukal, set in Muzzafarnagar depicted the crime in the city, rather a town. The population of Muzzafarnagar is majorly Hindu, and also holds a prominent percentage of Muslims.
I am not aware as what was the stature of peace and harmony between the two religious sect, however, one thing that I have noticed is - Muzzafarnagar is that UP district which has been in the news for its crime on a daily basis.
Gangs culture is popular, according to what I have been fed through news media.
This story revolves around such a gang who dominates some parts of the city, and around the SP who is determined to eradicate this menace to the population of city.
It was a classic story of crime, where in the criminal has good political connections, and how those connections affect the workflow of honest officers in action. But, against all odds, the protagonist - SP, somehow manages to finally end the gang leader. In all that, many innocents die which traumatized the protagonist multiple times, but he being a person of strong character pushes back and return to work with equal dedication.
The writing/dialogues/screenplay was average to moderately good. Although, it was definitely gripping, and hence I'd rate it in range of 7-8.
El hoyo (2019)
Absolutely different, cinematic and thrilling
There are very few movies or TV series, which broadens the horizon of expectations from the cinema. This is one such movie I was absolutely and thrilled to watch such a well depiction of the survival, instincts of a human and the emotions that blend with it to care for others is something that has been shown in very few movies. Such a movie has held me to introspect about my character and how would I respond to such a situation I found that I am not that strong. To overcome and deal with situations that may be affecting our survival. A person has to be amazingly strong in his mind and physical so as to not just care for him self but for others along with him this can only be done bye training your mind and body every single day.
Court (2014)
Simple. No drama. Real.
I don't understand what sort of cinema is this but whatever it was or what I can interpret. It was just a depiction of the real world scenario of a gutter worker who could not receive proper equipments for safety purposes in cleaning the gutter and hence eventually died. It was very difficult for him for working in gutter. Hence he used always some alcoholic substances so as to manage the staunch smell of the gutter. The government provided no support. The police didn't support their hair. Absolutely very less number of people who even know about such practises or if they know they don't care. However, there was nothing as cinematic in the movie as I just said it was just bland. Simple and real.
