Daisy Does America (2005)
Great Show
I have seen several episodes of this show. It is hilarious. No episode of South Park or Family guy comes even close to being as shocking and humorous as Daisy Does America. There is typical British humor, but it is pretty much universal. I think everybody will find this show funny. I found the episode in which Daisy goes to Compton to be a battle rapper the funniest. Show airs on TBS, and I recommend it to all. You won't be disappointed. Daisy Dnavon is the funniest lady from the UK aside from Jennifer Saunders, and I hope her show is successful. I think Daisy Does American is the best work of Courtney Arquette and husband.
Fiza (2000)
A Must see For Indy Bollywood Fans
This movie was excellent. Before I watched this film, I haven't heard of anyone who had seen it. It came on one afternoon, and I almost passed over it. I'm glad I didn't. Jaya, Hrithic, and Karishma especially were outstanding. The music was horrible, but this is a film to watch for the great acting.
Aside from the great performances by the three main characters, I thought the plot was clever. Karishma plays a devoted sister, looking for her brother after he disappears during the riots. Jaya plays the hopeful mother. Although she is told regularly that her son is dead, she never gives up hope that her son will return. Hrithic, of course, plays the son. I don't want to give away the plot, but I have to recommend this movie to all. It is very emotional. It is the type of film that will move you to tears long after it has ended.
Hey Ram (2000)
Very good Considering...
As far as Hindi cinema goes, Hey Ram wasn't that great. The music was boring, the scenery was laking, and at times the characters overacted. What made this movie great, in my opinion, was the fact that it wasn't a normal Bollywood movie. Usually Bollywood flicks are soppy, unrealistic stories about love. Usually a man and a woman fall in love, but family tradition does not let them marry. If a Bollywood flick isn't about love, it is an over-patriotic crap-fest about how great India is.
Hey Ram showed both the ugly and beautiful side of India, and all of its crazy traditions. It was also real. There weren't 500 backup dancers available at the snap of a finger, and physical romance didn't consist crappy innuendos. There were actually 2 sex scenes! Not hardcore, but as far as Bollywood goes they were risky.
Hey Ram is something fresh for Bollywood, and like all knew things there were flaws, but despite and cheers or jeers I would encourage all Bollywood fans over the age of 13 to see this film.
