Meet the Feebles (1989)
Not really sure what I was expecting....
This movie was not nearly what I thought it was going to be. So many of the scenes seemed to be just tossed in there. Most of them without much comedic value, just tossed in to be controversial and different.
I thought there would be some clever comedy within the dialogue. Some hilarious one liners, etc. It just did not deliver for me.
I have to add, I did laugh(fairly hard) in some scenes, but these were far and few between... but these did assist in salvaging a 2 out of 10 from me. More often than not, I found myself very bored. If the movie is carried on holding nothing back, showing no fear as far as what can be shown, it has to be done in a unique way; otherwise, it simply shows it has the balls, but not the brains. A movie whose characters are puppets needs more than just this to keep my attention.
Birthday Girl (2001)
Unusual Story of Love w/ a Touch of Dark Comedy
At first I was a little disappointed as I went into this expecting a Suspense/Thriller. In turned out being anything but.
Overall, I thought it was fairly entertaining, but it asks for us to shut our brains off for a couple hours and often throw out any logic and reason. I'm not saying that in a horrible way, just often there are small plot holes and even more often we question, why would he do that? or how did that happen? Nothing that should distract one to much if taken lightly.
The thing that got me the most is the ability to hit some emotion in the latter half. Thats about as far as i can go...but I was honestly ready to turn off halfway through, but ended up having worthwhile payoff.
No.. this is not great. The acting was OK. As an American it suited my needs, but I hear the accents are off some. I wouldn't know. But for me, it hit the spot in terms of its message, while managing to have some comedic and clever ways of conveying it.
