Hayedeh Legendary Persian Diva (2009)
Persian Mercedes Sosa!
Hayedeh in a way is Mercedes Sosa of Persia. Many songs of her are about exile, the pain of losing your homeland and hope for a better future.
This documentary is quite neutral for those who are interested in Hayedeh work. Lots of footages have been used and story telling is perfect. The film is like a trip to Hayedeh's life which actually is a part of Persian history in 20th century.
With great admiration I have watched this documentary film a couple of weeks ago and I can only emphasize how much I enjoyed it. Not only was it a touching story, but also was I amazed by the great amount of material and information that the director have been able to collect on this legendary woman. The documentary beautifully outlines an honest narrative that I appreciated to fullest. From Hayedeh's honor and fame to her rumors and 'scandals'; from her birth to the her post- revolutionary exile; from her death to her remarkable heritage.
I hope Pejman Akbarzadeh makes more documentaries like this.
