Invitation to a Murder (2023)
Did anyone read this script?
Perhaps they filmed the first draft of a perfectly awful script, apparently written by two 14 year olds bunking off school for a day. Then budget constraints meant they couldn't afford any actor who could produce a half way decent 1930s clipped RP accent.
Add on the difficulty of a ready made, non-period set and an apparently malfunctioning smoke machine and you have the basis of a great comedy. Except I don't think we are supposed to be laughing. Or are we ?
This is ridiculous. You can't be serious. Oh no, I have been found out and suddenly I am a Cockney. No wait ! Is this written by AI ?
I think we should all return to our rooms, don't you ?
The Wilding (2016)
I wish I had read the reviews first
Engaging and sometimes tense, but ultimately goes nowhere. Smoke machines and bizarre lighting in forest locations need explaining, as does the non-ending.
Lots of stuff about numbers that was never explained. Binary codes? Who knows - and now, who cares?
Pyos Ryzhiy (2017)
Oh dear
Very poor, under-developed script with too much pointless dialogue; stiff performances through lack of motivation, comical explosions with acrobatic dummies, poor direction, abysmal war sequences.
There is no drive to this script, precious little motivation and virtually no jeopardy.
Good points ? Some of the locations were good although they needed context. The end titles contained some interesting statistics.
