Goodnight Mommy (2022)
Ignore people who are comparing it to the original
So people are not liking this because they've watched the original and think it's better
I just think they want to brag that they've watched the original
It's becoming a trend "oh it's just an unnecessary remake" or "it's not as good as the book"
Well, I don't care if it had an original or a book or a true a story. A movie should be judged as a standalone movie
It's good, for people who love the creepy thriller genre I'd say go and watch it, don't give a damn about complainers
By the way, even the kids did some good acting & the director successfully managed to bring the desired creepy atmosphere.
Speak No Evil (2022)
This could've easily been an 8 or higher, but.....
I won't go into any specifics because I don't want to flag this as containing spoilers, I'll keep it spoiler free
The acting is quite good, all actors were convincing, the score & the camera work are on point, most importantly it knows how to put the viewer under tension which is what we expect from this kind of sub genre
It checks almost all the boxes, except some things that I don't want to spoil that could've been fixed very easily by the writer/director & these thing do break that movie IMO
All of the reviews here with spoiler warnings are talking about those exact things
That said, if you are a fan of that genre watch it it's worth your time.
Ozark (2017)
1 out of the 4 seasons had the most unnecessary character in TV history
A whole season (3) was totally wasted on that Ben Davis character
This character added literally nothing to the show, was totally unnecessary
I had to drag myself through that season because of that character
Please don't mistake that for unlikable characters, I have no beef with unlikables, this character though.. made the show just good instead of great
The real star of the show is Wendy Byrde IMO followed by Helen Pierce & Darlene Snell
I'd say it's the closest show to Breaking Bad, surely not as good though.
Bergen (2022)
Heartbreaking
Heartbreaking story that was told beautifully
I don't get the complains about the main actress, I think she did well, the whole cast actually did well.
Terror on the Prairie (2022)
Solid Westrern
One of the best westerns I've watched in a while, probably since Brimstone
It's not Brimstone good, but it's good
Forget that it came from The Daily Wire, it's a movie with no agenda just go watch it and enjoy, if it's your kind of movie anyway.
Shut In (2022)
I don't identify Left nor Right and I find it to be a good movie
Other than the unnecessary bible and cross shots, it was an interesting thriller/drama
a good thing is that there is only one stupid decision that somebody makes and it's not THAT stupid so I don't think the movie will insult your intelligence
The main character looks annoying and seems annoying at the beginning but she actually does a good job as well as the rest of the cast
There's nothing spectacular about the movie, at the same time there is nothing horrible at all, I'd say go watch it!
Willy's Wonderland (2021)
It's lousy but it's good :D hear me out....
It's a lousy movie that's almost a parody or maybe it is a parody
The concept is stupid and almost makes no sense but it's fun if you're willing to suspend common sense, yet it's not super fun
If you love Nic Cage and you're tired of his rubbish movies and you wait for the occasional OK or fun movie that gets released every 3 years or so, well this is one of them.
1BR (2019)
Solid cult type movie
OK it's not a 10 but it's a very good cult movie, if this is your cup of tea go for it don't hesitate
If you're looking for horror or you're not into cult movies then you might not like it
Extraction (2020)
Descent big budget R rated action flick
It is rare to find a big budget R rated action movie these days especially with a big star and especially a politically incorrect movie.
Apart from that, the action is believable and shot really well, the plot makes enough sense, all the actors did a great job and from my many travels to India and Bangladesh as an airline crew I'd say they did good job in portraying the environment.
Crown Vic (2019)
Don't mind the rating it's just to bump it up
OK, it's no Training Day, it's probably 20% as good and that is good enough
I was about to give up on it halfway and I'm glad I didn't
The Spy (2019)
One of the best things I've watched in a while
That's a solid mini series, story is great and moving, Sacha's acting is superb plus everyone with him
II will not say much I'll just say I think they naild it from all aspects
Rust Creek (2018)
5.7 rating only? Seriously?
I'm an old member here and I never wrote a review, the only reason I'm writing this is because I got so mad when I saw that the rating of this movie is 5.7 it's criminally underrated.
I'm not saying that it's the best movie of the year and that you should get your hops up or anything like that. No, all I'm I'm saying is that if you enjoy good old thrillers, watch this
