The 100 (2014)
Bad teen angst dreck
What an awful waste of my viewing time and the production company's money. Made for the CW 'Network', The 100 is a dreadful teen sci-fi drama set on a post-apocalyptic future Earth. But I am perplexed -- how did this script pass muster? Is there an expectation that anything with overly hormonal, stoopid teens will get some eyeballs? I was hoping that this would be an interesting new sci-fi show, but it is just a poorly scripted high school drama with all the clichés, pitting mean girls, bullies, cheerleaders, jocks, nerds and other one-dimensional characters against each other, but this time set in the future.
The only reason I would watch another episode is if I were assured a large number of the obnoxious brats and bullies that were landed on earth would be quickly killed off -- and killed in some especially gruesome manner!
The Originals (2013)
Sorry I wasted my time watching the pilot
I enjoy all kinds of horror, sci-fi and fantasy shows. I did not know anything about 'The Originals' when I watched the pilot. This drama has characters who are vampires, witches, werewolves as well as run-of-the-mill humans and it is set in the present day with most of the show centered around New Orleans.
The acting was pretty dreadful and stilted. Much of the plot makes no sense regardless of how you feel about whether there should be 'rules' for shows with mythical/magical beings. The characters are confused about their own basic natures, although maybe that is because they are written as though they are all teens with no self-awareness. Characters who are malevolent one minute then conflicted and forgiving the next are not interesting, they are tragic, and not in any good way.
I did not know this show was related to the show 'The Vampire Diaries.'
Maybe it was written for and targeted to vapid tweens. I guess 'The Originals' was created for an audience who will watch anything that involves vampires. I won't be watching it again.
Does Someone Have to Go? (2013)
One of the worst TV shows ever
I watched it without knowing the premise beforehand.
The owners of Velocity Merchant Services should be put out of business for allowing their employees to be subjected to the mean-spirited drubbing which is at the core of this show. So how does the show work? The premise is if something is not right where you work, the problem isn't the owners or the management — heaven forbid — the problem is you, the worker, or one of your lazy, shiftless coworkers. So go find a co-worker to blame!!! The show encourages employees to badmouth each other in seemingly private interviews — which it then shares on air — and the show reveals every participating worker's salary. This show is a nightmare which seems like it was hatched by the stogie-chomping, scotch-swilling miscreants on Wall St. "Let's punish the workers if something is amiss, but there will be no consequences for owners and managers!" When this country had a broadcasting Fairness Doctrine 30+ years ago, I bet I could have used this show to get control of the license for the local Fox station. This wreck of a show sure isn't in the public's best interest! LOL
