Obi-Wan Kenobi: Part I (2022)
What am I watching... ?
I didn't think I would have to try and like this.
Obi feels and looks so different than the original trilogy, mandalorian, Rogue One and prequels, yet it supposed to take place during this time? What is this "trying" to be? I'm not a super hardcore fan who has hated all things Star Wars since the originals. I have enjoyed a lot of recent new editions. But this is just shockingly bad/weird/uncomfortable...it looks and moves in such a way that I don't even care about the story.
Ewen is solid, but WTF is with the Leia casting and story? So forced. No on asked for this.
DC Showcase: Death (2019)
Beautiful
Kept within the spirit of The Sandman while offering up another angle to the character of Death. Would love to see more stories told with these characters and this animation style.
Star Trek: Picard (2020)
What is this show trying to be...?
Like many of the reviews, I so wanted to enjoy this new chapter of Star Trek. The first episode was extremely promising with solid production and potential for a very strong story.
Unfortunately I found the story telling, production, dialog and acting very inconsistent as the season progressed. One moment I was leaning into the story, then I was suddenly confused or irritated in where the story would go.
This show seemed to suffer from no one single vision. Felt like there were "too many cooks in the kitchen". I never really cared for the new characters and the older characters never got enough time. (Riker was great as always).
I appreciate the creators trying to tie Picard
into the end of the last Star Trek TNG movie...but they also forgot to capture the spirit of what Star Trek TNG was all about from a story telling perspective.
I unfortunately will not return for season 2...
Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker (2019)
Just witnessed the premier...emotional and gratifying ending
I was fortunate to be a part of the premier. I write this review sitting at the Power House bar across the street from The Dolby Theater fresh from the after party. This is not a BS/click bait review. I am a true fan who grew up on these movies and understand how important they are.
As a fan who deeply cares about these movies...I am satisfied...Rise of Skywalker delivers an ending that should leave fans happy and tears in their eyes.
The polarizing effect of Last Jedi puts even more pressure on this movie to deliver, yet i believe does. JJ brings a movie/story that shows he is a fan, and does his best to accommodate the hard core fans of the franchise.
If you liked Force Awakens and Return of the Jedi, you will like this movie. If you are looking for Empire Strikes back....you will appreciate the nod to fan favorite moments.
Sit back...and brace yourself for how wonderfully dark they keep this movie...only to let the light still shine through.
The force will be with us...all of us...always.
