Steppin Back (2004)
Good movie...if you're into the subculture.
The basic premise of the movie surrounds the whole black college fraternities and sororities. Now I am not partial because I am a part of the subculture, but I will say that its okay. Only because this is a very private lifestyle full of rituals and secrets that are not public knowledge that the movie exposes. The story is a little ridiculous and unbelievable at times, which makes the fact that it is low-budget, stand out. It also falls flat with the terrible acting done by the entire cast. (Believe me it is bad!) I guess it has a good message, but takes too long to get to the point and get sidetracked with a lot of pointless scenes that seem to never end. For example, the scene when they are in class having a discussion about the different Greek organizations. This scene tires the viewer out! If you can bear with that and other painful scenes, and the bad acting it will eventually be sort of entertaining if you have an interest in the subculture). Again I will warn you, it is low budget, but if that doesn't bother you check it out just to say you've seen it. This is the first movie that i've seen that actually featuring real black Greek fraternities and sororities.
Friday the 13th Part VIII: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989)
this movie began the horror/comedy genre...
While the other installments were a little more scary, and horrific, this one is very easy to handle due to its silliness. Not saying that its not interesting, but it seemed as though the creators of the whole franchise "ran out of gas" when they made this one. This movie, like many others, is just something to look at. If you're like myself and just watch movies to be entertained then you will find what you are looking for. Definitely worth checking out if you like slasher/80's type (silly) movies. Not to spoil the movie but the scene where the boxer gets his head completely punched off by Jason is something one will laugh out loud for! Other than that there are not very many memorable scenes. But, then again I have not bothered to watch it very many times.
