Axe Me Another (1934)
Love it!
Viewing this cartoon from a little boy's eyes, I love this cartoon series. The new color wash, old fashioned good vs. bad, it is great. And the music is good. Also, a song, "I'll do anything that you do..." is a catchy little ditty.
And of course, there's always the constant Popeye murmurings, and bad old Bluto.
Popeye's solutions to problems are always good and comical. He immediately runs into a problem in that the boat he is building has no bottom, so he slaps glue on the boat frame, puts in on the floor, and saws the floor to match the boat's contour. Problem solved. And who cares that the room where Popeye is assembling the boat has no door large enough to get the boat out... Popeye simply tears down the house, to reveal that the house is built on the deck of a pier. Oh, if life was so simple.
House of Wax (1953)
A pure classical horror flick---and had my great great uncle in it.
My great uncle was in this movie, being the barker. Watch this movie and get out of the way of his ''tricks''. His name was Reggie Rymal. I'm Larry...
My uncle was an entertainer and comedian in the early 1950s and was well known for his paddle-ball skills. He performed standup comedy and paddle-ball at hotels around the country. He appeared on many television shows during the early days of TV including "The Eddie Cantor Show, You Asked For It, and Ladies Choice.
I have always felt he was chosen for this movie due to the contribution in content for the 3-D effects. He was simply an amazing guy.
