Oppenheimer (2023)
Oppenheimer: A Monumental Misfire in Nolan's Oeuvre
"Oppenheimer," Christopher Nolan's ambitious adaptation of "American Prometheus," disappointingly falls short of expectations set by his previous cinematic marvels. The film is certainly monumental, but its expansive 3-hour length proves testing for the audience's patience. We anticipate a compelling narrative around scientific discovery, atomic theory, and the birth of the atomic bomb. Instead, Nolan swerves into a labyrinth of political intrigue, painting a shadowy picture of Oppenheimer as a communist.
The film often feels more like a detached documentary than a stirring cinematic experience. There's no central plot to anchor us, and an unsettling absence of critical historical moments, such as the horrific bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Instead, we wade through a tiresome mire of legal drama, which, while probably accurate, lends little to the cinematic spectacle we seek.
Furthermore, the depiction of Oppenheimer is contentious at best. Nolan seems to lionize a figure whose scientific breakthroughs ultimately led to devastating loss of life. This tension between Oppenheimer's humanity and the grim aftermath of his work is a complex issue that the film fails to convincingly navigate.
The film left a void where I expected the brilliance of Nolan's past works like "The Dark Knight Trilogy" or "Inception". After "Tenet" and "Dunkirk," this film lands as another unexciting addition to Nolan's recent oeuvre.
In conclusion, Nolan's "Oppenheimer" is a colossal yet uneven historical drama. It stumbles in its storytelling and character portrayal, failing to fully grasp the enormity and gravity of its subject. Though well-intentioned, it ultimately fails to captivate or provoke thought in the way a film of this caliber should.

Serious Men (2020)
I wish the director of the movie was Serious about this film.
Seriously! What is the point of this movie? What is the message? Commit fraud because that's what everyone does? And as long as everyone does it, its right?
