Vir Das: Losing It (2018)
Vir has lost it.
Irony of the title is that Vir has really lost it. He used to be a nice comedian side kick for movies but somewhere between finding a balance between a cool leftist (that this guy really is) and a so called stand up guy, Vir lost it bigtime. He has been trolled and hated to such an extent on social media for his know India hating stances that he has really lost it. He actually lost his funny side while becoming anti national and thats what is sad about this whole act. It is unfunny, pretentious and above al dry as heck.
TVF Pitchers (2015)
The Show's a hit
Kudos to TVF. Finally a show which echo the aspirations and temperament of Indian youth. Very well written and equally perfectly enacted. It is a simple story but keeps you engrossed really well. Finally India is coming up with shows which can match the western sitcoms. And above all thanks to the "season" format which spares a lot of room to imagination until next season comes up. Just love the hidden jokes and slapstick humor. It takes a lot of courage and perseverance to come up with such a fresh looking show. The only thing i wold like to change will be the lead female actor, who, although average, is annoying at places (like when she is leaving for London and trying to convince her boy friend to convince her to not go, this scene was stretched a bit too long, and that too at a very crucial moment)
The makers should concentrate more on the central actors, the entrepreneurs!
Prem Deewane (1992)
Sachin's signature direction
I have always admired Sachin as a great director(hit acting skills are great, but hez too energetic and puts bit too much of effort while acting). He has directed the most acclaimed TV sit com TU TU MAIN MAIN and HADD KAR DI. His comic timing is terrific and brings out the best from his actors. Prem deewane is a hard core commercial movie studded with main stream actors playing to the tunes of Sachin's flawless direction. However, i still believe AISI BHI KYA JALDI HAI was the best movie ever directed by Sachin. Yes, better than this commercial affair. It was a low key affair, yet it had wonderful story revolving around a doting father whose over cautiousness gives rise to some really comic moments. Overall Prem Deewane is a great watch, but becomes lengthy and twisty at places. Songs are good and a Subhash Ghai's effect can be clearly noticed int he beats of Pi Pi piya and other classical numbers. Anyone noticed, Pooja Bhatt's character is named Radha in this movie, Sachin's all time favorite name for a female protagonist. We had a Radha in tu tu main main too( played by his wife Supriya Pilgaonkar) Watch it with family for some light romantic and some rib tickling moments.
