Interesting though confusing at times
10 April 2016
Warning: Spoilers
We took our HS youth group to see GND2 on April 9th. Overall, the movie was fairly well done and interesting. We gathered after, laughing when the theater crew came in to clean, saying they must have been thinking "well, there's the youth group". Our HS youth liked this one more than the first, they said they found it easier to connect to, perhaps because they are all in high school.

The story of a teacher questioned about her methods hit home for me as I went through the process to get my teaching certification before deciding it was not the path for me. There are plenty of things this story line could have addressed without using Jesus and it still would have made sense. Since this is a Christian based company that puts these movies out though, and considering this is a sequel, it's no surprise what they chose to go with.

I was pleased to see the returning characters and how they worked with the new story line. Since we stayed to discuss after the movie was over, we were probably some of the few that saw the after credits scene which we're pretty sure will lead to GND3.

There were things we questioned however. At the beginning, when Grace addressed the student's question that got her in trouble, we see a boy pull out his phone and text someone. It is never revealed who he texted or what was said, and this boy is never seen again. I would have thought that he would have played a bigger role since ultimately he was the one to get Grace in trouble. Another thing that I found rather confusing was why the writers chose to make the ACLU the "villain" of the film. From what I know of the ACLU, they actually would have been the first to defend Grace...not the other way around.

My favorite part of the film was the testimonies that talked about Jesus as a historical figure rather than a religious one. Even as a Christian, I rarely hear about the historical facts surrounding Jesus.

A Pleasant Surprise
12 December 2010
I wasn't sure what to expect with this movie since I haven't read the book. I was pleasantly surprised however! From the moment the movie started I was enthralled with the characters. Who didn't have an imaginary friend as a kid? Pretty much everyone did. Jane was a lovely, if a bit confused, character... a very everyday sort of woman. And Michael! Well, since I haven't read the book I don't know if Eric Winter truly captured the character or not but if he is anything like how he is portrayed then I am going to love him.

This movie gets an A in my book. I would recommend it to anyone who likes an innocent romance.

Prayers for Bobby (2009 TV Movie)

Touching!
24 January 2009
The truth can be heartbreaking. Mary Griffith realized this when her son Bobby jumped off of a freeway into oncoming traffic. I just finished watching this movie and I must say... this movie is beyond touching. The acting was fantastic and it's message was very inspiring. Prayers for Bobby shows the struggles that gay youth and their families can go through, whether that means failing or triumph. This movie not only touches on the issues of homosexuality but also on pushing religion to far on someone, suicide and coming to terms with who you are. Life isn't always made up of rainbows and butterflies and this movie expresses that without holding anything back.

It was okay
31 January 2006
I saw Brokeback Mountain and I cannot say that it was that good. But it was okay.

I loved the story and the characters but as many movies about cowboys are, it was slow.

It is not a movie if I had known about I would pay to see in theaters, I'm not even sure at the moment if I want to buy it.

(My opinion has nothing to do with the fact that the cowboys are gay... well really bisexual. Just over the movie as a whole.)

If you have been wanting to see this movie, wait until it comes to video stores and rent it. Believe me, it'll be worth the wait.
