Stewart (2022)

More to the story than I thought

One of those if I don't watch it now I probably never will documentaries. Once I started I was immersed in the story. Jackie Stewart was pre my childhood F1 viewing days ( which started with James Hunt), so it was informative for me to discover drivers I didn't know. The documentary shows Stewart's relationship with his wife and team mates and his focus and determination to be a winner in life. It I was in a period when driver safety was not a priority so the documentary contains some disturbing crash footage. This highlights the progress that has been made and Stewart was a major influence in driving the agenda.

Official Secrets (2019)

Ifans and Feinnes deliver great performances

Good to see a great screenplay with a group of strong actors in the leading roles. Although the pace is a little slow the film is engaging throughout and delivers honestly. Ifans his usual extrovert self and Fiennes just always effortlessly convinces.

Michael Keaton plays Ray Kroc well

Not seen Keaton in a film for some time but really enjoyed his performance. I love the McDonalds story and seen various documentaries on it and also read Fast Food Nation .. but the film was very good..

I, Tonya (2017)

Janney is outstanding

Enjoyable film, generally all good performances but Janney stands out. I only vaguely remembered 5he real story when it happened so it was good to see.

Darkest Hour (2017)

Oldman is the film

Phantom Thread (2017)

Performances are strong but film is average

All performances are good particularly Day Lewis but I felt the film to be a little dull in places and not sure where it would go.
