Unforgotten: Episode #2.6 (2017)
Speechless.
WOW. That was WOW! How did I ever miss this truly phenomenal piece of television when it was first shown on PBS? Why did this not get more press and accolades over here in the US. Spectacular. Extremely moving, truly spectacular.
Radioactive (2019)
Pike is spectacular
An intriguing look at Curie, her family and her discoveries. Presented in a way which shows the horrors of what came to be juxtaposed with the successes of the moment, Pike as Curie is both disarming and standoffish. Her distrust of the rest of the scientific community is vaguely conveyed while her love for her husband and research is very apparent.
What We Left Behind: Looking Back at Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (2018)
A f*ucking (great) tailor
DS9 has always been my favorite Trek. This documentary explains why.
The ingenious conceit of simultaneously looking at what might have followed its season seven finale, juxtaposed with how it all came to be. The celebration of those in front of, and behind, the camera. Encapsulating what made this show so ahead of its time, how it pushed both storytelling and social boundaries to its own detriment. All done with a sense of humor, the appreciation of the fans today compared with their complaints at the time.
A truly heartwarming, informative and amusing tale of a underrated television great.
Raised by Wolves (2013)
If this had bee on Netflix, they'd have been more!
Dare I say better even than Derry Girls.
Great music is just one part of this fully realized dysfunctional family. Living in the Midlands on the fringes of "normal" British society, free range teens (and babies) actually function as a family unit. Reined in by the iron hand (and wit) of mum Della, these kids have more of a sense of self and purpose than most on TV.
