The Departed (2006)
Just a few spoilers
Yes! This is a very good movie to see and is well acted by everyone involved. But when you think about the movie afterward it does have a bunch of holes. So I was surprised by it's very high rating. I would suppose none of the holes bothered the other movie patrons. I would not have it rate any higher than 7.5 as far as a total movie goes. If you see this then make sure you see HEAT which is even better in my opinion.
These are the holes -Semi-Spoilers 1. Why would a police investigator pick up a cigarette rather than his gun when he knows he's being approached by thugs??? 2. What happened to the baby??? Who's was it??? 3. Why didn't DiCaprio call Wahlberg direct but he can leave a note for his Therapist that has the info to get in touch with Wahlberg after the fact??Big Question??? 4. Why would the Therapist (which had very little character development) sleep with Dicaprio so quick (there was no motivation and makes her look cheap) and how did he know where she always lived anyway is a bigger question? 5. Why didn't DiCaprio just turn in state evidence directly to a news team and blow the case wide open. He didn't have to try and capture the top guy on the top of a building. He could've called Wahlberg who he knows he can trust since he was hired by him in the first place? 6. Why didn't they have the secondary insider in the FBI earlier in the movie?... It was a throw in to shock you but really the movie didn't need to have that cheap shot.
There are a few more holes but this at least lets you know that it's not a perfect movie.... just perfect acting and the movie does pull you in from the start.
Stomp the Yard (2007)
It was a very good movie.
It is literally impossible to give this movie a "1" as over 500 people have done. There must be some campaign of hate is all I can say because the movie has some great choreography not seen in other movies. The story line is standard but then a lot of movies in this genre are like that and you go knowing that.
Go enjoy the dance and let yourself accept the regular plot line without much fanfare.
Everybody that was in the theater that night clapped when it was over which rarely happens in movies. But by the end you were wowed by the great dancing and challenges that took place.
It shouldn't get an average rating below 6.5 in my opinion.
Are We There Yet? (2005)
Good Movie
Someone commented in a review that they found it a slow movie at times. I didn't feel that way at all because the movie had a pace about it where there was development of characters. which they did a good job of, and numerous slapstick stunts that were all very funny. I took 4 kids age 8-12 and I am 39. We all laughed at the same things and everyone understood what the movie was about.
Its a movie where you suspend your imagination like you do for sci fi movies and enjoy a simple story. Kudos to Ice Cube who can act and produced a solid fun family film. It was worth the price of the ticket and that's all that needs to be said.
