A very good surprise !

Follows the nightout of two LAPD cops, an experimented officer and a young rookie.. Very tense and realistic. If you liked "End of watch", "Harsh times", you will probably enjoy it.

Dark, powerful and sad
3 April 2021
Despite a slow start, this film is powerful and very moving. The atmosphere is heavy, dark, and some scenes are raw. I was surprised (in a good way), because I had mixed feelings about this one... Everything feels real, the cast is great, the performance of Carrey Mulligan is mindblowing.

Not bad but lazy

I have a mixed feelings about this one... I wasn't expecting much and I was surprised by the realistic aspect brought by the 4:3 screening, like a documentary from the early 90s. I really liked the authenticity, the style but there is a lack of density in the scenario (I think maybe J.Hill dit it on purpose to deliver a real and simple picture of these kids growing up in the mid 90s, hanging out, skating, partying...). Anyway, nostalgia is here and the soundtrack is very good ! (golden age of Hip Hop).

Very intense and powerful. More than just another social/drama movie. Everybody should see this film.

A good and very entertaining comedy/thriller
6 March 2021
I really don't understand the so so bad reviews and ratings.. 1/10, 2/10 ??? Come on.. A very good scenario and a great cast, Rosamund Pike and Peter Dinklage are just perfect in this modern comedy/thriller.

The Kid (II) (2019)

Could have been better but not bad
6 March 2021
Great cast for this realistic western directed by Vincent D'Onofrio. Don't be fooled by the tittle, this is not a biopic on Billy The Kid (even if he's part of the story, of course). It's more about a young boy (Rio) searching for his sister, and his relationship with Billy The Kid and also Pat Garrett the famous sheriff. This is not a epic western with a lot of gunfights and drama but still entertaining and the cast is very good.

Should be seen by everyone
29 January 2021
Based on a true story, Spotlight is a very powerful movie with a brilliant casting (Mark Ruffalo's performance is great). Director Tom McCarthy goes straight to the point, it feels like we are watching a documentary, following a small team of investigate reporters who try to uncover the scandal of abuse of children in catholic church. On the same subject, I have just watched the excellent docuseries The Keepers that really moved me.

A very powerful and moving documentary. A must see
28 January 2021
A brilliant and very well built docuseries of 7 episodes, once you start watching the first one you can not stop. The events that took place in 1969 in the Archbishop Keough are truly horrible, I've just finished the last part and I know I will be thinking of this story for a long time.

With potential
15 January 2021
Not a bad movie, great potential with some good ideas and ambitious scenes (Nicolas Cage's bathroom scene is powerful), but the film could have been way better. The style/form is not for everyone, very metal and dark with a lot of red coloured/satured images.

One of the best Sean Penn's performances
19 December 2020
Dead man Walking is a powerful film and probably one of the most stunning of 1995. Best acting performance of Sean Penn, and Susan Sarandon is also incredible in that role. The subject is quite disturbing but you have to add this title on your watchlist.

Another disturbing one
19 December 2020
Once again Gaspar Noe delivers a very weird and disturbing movie. It's more like an extreme experience. When I finished to watch it, I was wondering what was that ? What did I just watch !!?? As if I was the witness of a violent trance... nothing like Seul contre tous (1998) or Irreversible (2002) but still provocative and nauseous. However, the soundtrack is excellent and the dance scenes are quite good but some characters are very annoying. Not for everyone...
