Movies tell a story. Bad stories make us yawn. Good stories make us come alive and be there with them. Stories that stir up those damn emotions, bad or good. Behind those stories are the hidden truths that humankind likes to hide. As AI advances are made each day, our fear is what is going to be our end. This movie couldn't tell it any better. You don't have to be human to feel, and at our core, we are our own destruction. We are all machines and programming when you break it down and just because we are made of different materials then the next machine doesn't make us superior, doesn't make us smarter, doesn't make us more compassionate. Actions is all that matters. Most AI post apocalyptic movies paint the machines as the bad guys, when in fact, it is us and will always be us. Just look at current world events, everyday events , and tell me it isn't true. This story tells it so perfectly. Besides the story, the acting is on point, sceneries are breathtaking and just pulls you in. It's definitely going on my top favs of all time. Please please please watch it. Don't let all the overly critical "movie buffs" deter you. Just watch it.
The Invitation (2022)
Ratings don't lie
I was optimistic going into the movie EVEN after reading the low reviews. My thought was, "Hmm maybe the reviewers weren't big of a fan of vamp movies". Now I can say the low ratings are true. Great cast. Honestly only even considered it BECAUSE of Nathalie. Loved her on GOT. Turns out the movie moved extremely slow, very predictable, especially if you know anything of Bram Stokers Dracula stories. Very cliche. Super dark scenes for 90% of the movie. Had to quint through majority of it because it was so dark. Even the limited action scenes were bleh. Trust the low ratings, this time is true....
Obsession (2019)
Does it even deserve a 1?
I don't write a lot of reviews. A place, experience, or movie has to be extremely terrible or extremely memorable for me to even put my 2 cents out in the world of interwebs. Had to do it for this one. How has Mekhi fallen so far in the world of acting to end up in such a poorly written, extremely low budget film? He must have burned some bridges. Who in their right mind thought, hey let's hire Elika Portnoy cuz she was the best audition we had. If she was the best they had then the movie was doomed before filming. The script was so so so bad, every scene was predictable. I won't even call them actors. All those 10 stars are either bots or people who truly don't know what a decent movie looks like.
Dark Places, Deadly Illusions (2021)
Cliche to the max
I absolutely understand that some movies are meant to be "open for interpretation". That's almost always how these proclaimed "critically acclaimed best psycho thrillers of the year" movies are. And if you're the one who doesn't "get it" then you're all suddenly clumped in THAT group, the ones who aren't "artistic". BUT let me tell you, this movie is neither artistic or thrilling. Honestly, who didn't figure it out halfway through? Really? A writer who plays out her writing as a way to immerse herself in her story. That's the most cheesy "unknown kindle free unlimited author's " material. The most disappointing of it all was the acting. I'd understand the poor acting had these been newbies, but clearly they're not. They sure acted like they never acted before. It's definitely a lifetime movie trying to make it big via Netflix. Bad choice Netflix, bad choice.
