The Wave (2015)
8/10
Great entertainment for family & foe
21 December 2015
First off, the film IS predictable, as is Jaws... :-/

Predicting the plot was kinda obvious since the title of the movie implies!

You kind'a just know what's going to happen. That's not a negative thing necessarily with a movie like this.

I found this movie to be absolutely worth watching. It had elements of good acting, good producers, and good writers.

There were a couple hitches that pulled it down from 10*'s to 8.

There were sustainable flames all over the place for the aftermath that were just annoying for logical reasons. Why would there be flames all over the ground after a tsunami. The occasional here and there explosions and after fires are obvious. But not constant flames all over the place. Obviously it was the only solution they had to "light up for the cams".

The second annoyance is that the four people lingering over the "big red button" were just so totally dumbed down. No one with that employment would be so damn right naive and stupid, with no govern to include on decisions. I'm sure there is no solitary group of people with that responsibility with no one to answer to. I'm sure they have a boss, and a govern hanging over them...

So with that mentioned, I need to mention the wave CGI looking straight out of Armageddon instead of a proper constant dramatic 80- meter wave. Someone was overpaid for over dramatization of a catastrophe. But hey, everyone needs their paycheck.

Besides the wife looking exactly as my ex and the daughter having absolutely no resemblance to the rest of the family I was really pleased with the whole cast.

Again, it's absolutely worth watching.

Halt and Catch Fire (2014–2017)
10/10
After watching Season One, it's a 10 out of 10 and wanting more!
4 August 2014
This show catches the nostalgic momentum that so many of us old school geeks long for.

Why we got into computers to begin with. Why we spend extensive time playing with our electronics. Our type, we're here in abundance, and the need to get the word out that this is a "real" feel good reason why we got hooked to begin with... It often takes multiple seasons before you really catch the eye of a target group, but the production of HACF gets the attention of so many others in addition. Us, the geeks, we've just been waiting for a series that gets into the heart of why and how the society started with electronic niche needs... Just like Hackers and somewhat Silicon Valley HACF gives the feeling of consent and belonging from a time when the concept of using a computer for more than spreads was frowned upon.

The whole concept has so much to build on; the series can come together again. But it doesn't need to. Take any one of those paths at the end of the season, and there's a new story just waiting to be told. Keep it on the air. And if no, just know some other production is going to milk the concept!

The Last Ship (2014–2018)
1/10
it's bad and just gets worse
21 July 2014
I tried to like it, really... always in search for some entertainment.

But after watching the first five episodes I know for a fact I'd rather suck the snot out of a dog's nose rather than live through the agony of having to see another...

Extreme bad acting Extreme bad everything…

Completely not worth the time I've spent… Anyone who doesn't find my post useful, is either a patriotic moron or in cahoots with the "backend" of the making of this tragic series.

IMDb should be rating it 5/10 – and the only reason for the score as high as it is, is because of people rating it to early and not reversing after they egnolage what bull it is, in addition to the "backend" gang trying to up its rating on IMDb by trolling / spamming votes!

This series is not living to see a season two!

does not deserve "one" star imo...

Melancholia (2011)
1/10
this is the kind of movie my wife gets angry at me for watching
6 January 2012
Warning: Spoilers
I had to give it a chance, with mixed reviews and all, but with a HIGH 7,4 rating on IMDb I have procrastinated watching Melancholia, until now

This was a complete waste of a perfect evening with the misses, having her pass out on the couch, and objectively agonizing myself through to the end of the movie...

Anyone who knows a melancholic person of this magnitude, knows they probably would not successfully make it to the point as getting married having a successful job etc. as introduction to our main character suggests, and then take a turn for the worst on this most important night. As for the story's sake, let's accept her condition and where she's ended up on this evening and in life. The sci-fi part of the story is supposed to give some sort of understanding as to why we should find empathy for her and the movies other characters. I didn't find it. Don't think we were supposed to like anyone in this movie. All of them being well eccentric. Almost as we all know and dislike someone quite like at least a couple of them. Funny thing is, I actually dislike Kirsten Dunst somewhat less as an actress after seeing Melancholia. Strange that one...

I just have to say, if you watch the movie, and dislike it, you deserved wasting your time. You have been warned.

If you watch the movie, and can relate to our main, enjoy it, or in any way feel the need to quietly go to bed and process your thoughts, you have it to good... people are starving

+'s music editing and artistically well balanced dislike Kirsten Dunst a little less after watching.

-'s The storyline is crap CGI is low budget but not the main factor Realism is totally off as of gravity, water, atmospheric alteration not happening, so not sci-fi worthy categorized.

There is just no point in liking this movie. It's almost like I feel provoked at all the people giving it good reviews, and high ratings.

Melancholia went down as a -1 in my book...

This is the only movie that made me feel the need to make an account on IMDb and put in my 2 cents.

Until the next waste of time movie, I'm out
