Homeland (2011)
Earlier seasons were good, but that erodes towards the end
I just finished watching the show. It was very interesting to watch except for parts where there were clear errors of judgment from the character of Carrie Mathisson. Towards the last few seasons, as these errors become more and more frequent, the show became harder and harder to watch. In the very last season, the same can be said about President Keane: one error of judgement after the other. The end was kind of predictable.
To a new viewer, I may recommend only season 1. It was the most intense and fun. After that, you may become more invested in the show, but it will not be as rewarding.
TLDR: You start cheering for Carrie and love the show, but as it progresses and she makes more and more mistakes, you start to not like her. Towards the end, she reaches bottom and she barely returns to her season 1 character to offer an acceptable ending.
Hajimete no otsukai (1990)
Beautifully simple and heartwarming
The show basically shows children (between 2 and 4 years old) running their first errand in Japan. It sounds like a simple idea but there are so many different aspects to this show.
Through the show, you will learn about how children deal with all kinds of problems and how they think. Sometimes they are focused on their errand, sometimes they are more worried about their parents, many other times you'll see how easily distracted they get. Always with the degree of innocence that children have.
You'll laugh, smile and sometimes even cry. It's very wholesome.
In addition, you'll learn a bit of the Japanese culture, it's towns, foods, safety and attitude towards kids.
Amazing show overall.
The Zone: Survival Mission (2022)
Terrible Show
It's supposed to be SURVIVAL but you can tell easily from the editing that there are plenty of moments were the stars don't have to advance to survive. They just move on for the sake of the show. Think of your typical survival show: Players have skin in the game, they have to take risks to win and they can get eliminated. The players in this show have nothing to lose, they just move on for the sake of "entertainment" (which is lacking). This was painful to watch: not fun, not entertaining, not survival. I'm guessing that the good reviews come from hardcore Yoo Jae-Seok and Lee Kwang-Soo fans. You are way better off watching old Running Man episodes than this show.
Big Little Lies: The Bad Mother (2019)
The inconsistencies in this episode ruined the series for me
I have marked my review for spoilers. Stop reading if you want to avoid any.
Before this episode, I thought that "Big Little Lies" was a great series. But while I was watching this episode, I realized several inconsistencies that deeply flaw the finale of the show and undermine even the whole 2nd season.
You may not agree with me, which is totally fine but the inconsistencies are mostly focused on Celeste's character. Here's the list of inconsistencies:
1) Celeste is a LAWYER (and she has a valid BAR license). It's completely idiotic to think that she didn't prepare herself to answer the questions she faced on the stand. Everyone knows Celeste's ability to take care of the twins was going to be questioned. So why did her lawyer not prepared her? Why did Celeste not prepare herself given that she knows what she was going to face and the questions they were going to ask her? The whole episode, she was an abuse victim who seems didn't know anything about law (or had any proper advice whatsoever) and at the end of the episode she suddenly remembered she is a lawyer and that she can defend herself.
2) I can't recall Celeste's area of expertise in law but it hit me that if she is (or ever was) a lawyer, she should have given the group legal advice about Perry's death. If anything, the group (or any of it's members) should have reached out a criminal attorney to get legal advice under lawyer-client confidentiality. Of course, if they had done it, the whole premise of the 2nd season would fall apart.
Let's face it. The whole show is based on the premise that lies have legal and non-legal consequences. Given this premise, how can the group avoid seeking legal counsel even when they have a lawyer (who should know better) in their group.
Game of Thrones: The Bells (2019)
Looking for redemption? Look somewhere else.
*SPOILERS AHEAD*
Just finished watching the episode and I must say it's one of the biggest dissapointments.
I had hopes that S8E05 would somehow have a twist and redeem "The Long Night" (S803) among with other plot holes and story mishaps.
I was wrong. D&D have ruined the previous seasons and made me feel like I wasted my time the last 9 years.
All the story build up, character development and foreshadowing for this plain "hollywood" action packed episode with NOTHING that made sense in terms of the storyline.
