Warrior (2019)
Twisted in the best way...
This is a show with some seriously amazing fight scenes, and story lines that keep twisting with expected yet unexpected outcomes in a way that makes you wonder what's coming next.
The way the also have the characters speak in and out if English but depicting Cantonese was really cool and unique to the tv and film industry that I've seen, and I do love my movies. The sex scenes were a bit to much for me but I just don't feel the need for them, that was one of my issues to Game of Thrones. It did add more to the story here at least more then it did in Game of Thrones anyways.
The character development is pretty on point with showing who each person is yet shows them develop in positive ways and then negative then back to positive much like the natural human development. There were some characters that drifted in and out that I would have liked to see more if but maybe there wasn't enough time.
The part I found most fascinating was the historical accuracy surrounding the show. As I watched I researched the history to see if it was fiction but found this show is on point, historically, with a lot of things though the main story line is of course fictional. In fact to this day in China town San Francisco they still have specific Tong family names on their buildings.
Jack Ryan (2018)
Would have give 8 but...
The story keeps me engaged for the most part, the movie is excellent but the show is a good second. The character who plays Jack Ryan does an excellent job and the caring and good boy attitude really show through.
The shows military action scenes are pretty decent.
Biggest issue, and I can't believe I have to write it, a good portion of the the show where they speak Arabic doesn't have subtitles so unless your bilingual in English and Arabic you miss a good understanding of what is going on! Very obnoxious and Amazon with their financial backing of the movie could have at least hired someone competent in that department!
Spinning Into Butter (2007)
A thinkers Film
Before writing this review I read some of the more prestigious reviewers and feel they completely missed the mark. I would not call this an entertainment type film but rather a film to look at the racial divide in our country as well as the political atmosphere that is ignited by it. It dives into how and/or why people can become racist, how psychologically we can see our selves due to our race, how others see us and how political correctness can cause more issues then we think it solves. If you are truly open to seeing our racial world from different aspects then this is the film for you. So far this is the best film I've seen on understanding our racial divide, and the emotions that go with it, in a very short and simplistic way.
