The Bay (2012)
Scary & Possible
I normally am not a big fan of shaky cam or camcorder found footage movies. But this was handled both quite well. The story is terrifying based on the possibility that everything in it could happen. When taking real world things like the Brain-eating amoeba that has been showing up here in the United States and others it puts the movie in a new light. I feel the story was very believable. My only true complaint was Kether Donohue's character (The Reporter). I'm glad it was only a minor piece of storyline. Without that piece I would have rated the movie higher than a 7. Nonetheless this was a fun movie and something that we can hope the authorities watch our water supplies for.
Those Who Wish Me Dead (2021)
Lord Taylor Brings Another Great Story
Yellowstone's Taylor Sheridan brings us another great story. I really enjoyed this movie tonight. Definitely an R rated movie with some overly harsh language for the first 30 minutes. Hotshot fire fighters do tend talk like that so I guess it fits. Angelina Jolie did very good and delivered a believable performance. Not giving anything away but I did want one last comment at the end of reassurance. If you watch it you will know what I mean. I suspect it felt to typical and they choose the ending that we see. A solid 7 on a scale of 0-10.
War of the Worlds (2019)
Great Doomsday/Sci-Fi Show!!!
Being a far of the original movie and newer recent on with Tom Cruise this series had large shoes to fill. Being two episodes into it I can say Wow!!! This is my kind of story telling and suspense. The amount of detail is amazing and very appreciated. I like where the story is heading and hope that fun. I like the character development so far and also the locations. The creative spin on the original story also has added a much need refresher. For those unsure I would say if you enjoy Armageddon/survival/Sci-Fi horror this will be enjoyed. It somewhat feels like Falling Skies meets Walking Dead. Unlike Walking Dead you get the detail that you always wanted to see but they never delivered. I enjoy the Walking Dead but found myself always wanting to see and do more. When they would visit a town or city that was abandoned I wanted to see more. Here you do. This adds to how desperate and how scary this would be if real. Great work so far and hope holds throughout the season.
It's a shame this isn't on U.S. based Fox as I believe it would do very well. EPIX has proven itself with a few great shows but their service has a lot to be desired. I've literally tried to subscribe a few times and after error upon error said forget it.
