Scrub Me Mama with a Boogie Beat (1941)
How racist can one cartoon get?
Very! This was the most offensive cartoon short I have ever viewed. Nearly every racial stereotype of Blacks described by Donald Bogle (Uncle Tom, Mammy, Coon, Pickaninny and High Yellow Vixen) were characterized here. It's disgusting that anyone would take the time to animate such boarish and unattractive caricatures of people.
Tarts and Flowers (1950)
The cutest of all the Little Audrey shorts!
I absolutely loved this cartoon! The dreamlike quality of the animation and the music were so fitting. This was the best Audrey short of all! Little Audrey was an underrated gem!
*******Attention: Possible Spoilers Ahead*******
Little Audrey's adventures in Cakeland with the Gingerbread man are oh so adorable! The Gingerbread man's wedding to his sweet "tart" is animated so well, and the Devil's food cake nemesis is the perfect antagonist! I loved the dancing French Pastries too! My favorite!
The Seapreme Court (1954)
A Very Cute Famous Studios Short!
I loved this cartoon short! I have seen old "Little Audrey" and "Little Lulu" shorts, and I understand that Audrey was originally created to be a replacement for Lulu to save on licensing fees. Although Audrey never got to be as popular as Lulu, "The Seapreme Court" is very entertaining in its storyline and graphic quality. This cartoon is sort of "Finding Nemo-esqe" in it's style. It's a shame more "Audrey" cartoons weren't made.
Another adorable "Little Audrey" short is "Tarts and Flowers" where Audrey finds herself in Cakeland!
