Skyfall (2012)

Why insisting in making an emotional James Bond?

Once again they tried to have a more "human" James Bond with feelings and all the crap... James Bond is not like that, he likes women, he kill bad guys, he does incredible things, he uses super high tech weapons, he always use the best brand new cars and he never shows emotions. In this film they tried to evoke the Sean Connery era with an emotional 007 with a very dumb story. At least he still likes women, tough he leaves open the idea that he might have tried other than women. All of that would be OK in a different movie, but it is James Bond.

On the other hand, the theater was crowded and most of the people seamed to be very happy with the movie, it has a high rating at the IMDb, so I guess there must be something about this movie that people just loved it. I am sorry, but I couldn't find it.

I usually never notice the goofs, but this movie has a lot of them. It is a shame, it looks like such an expensive movie with one of the current best directors and a wonderful cast, was not enough, they missed a good story and a good script.

Perro callejero (1980)

The complicated Mexico City during the 80's

This movie was made during the era of the Fichera's Films in Mexico, for most of people the worst era of Mexican Film Industry, where there was nothing to show but corrupt police, ficheras (kind of prostitutes) and a hero. The Fichera's movies used to have very low budget, poor scripts and the worst special effects available in those days; they used to show some naked women and acting was not that important.

You could say that Perro Callejero is a Fichera's Movie because it is about a poor guy who is born in a low neighborhood, surrounded by ficheras, thieves and corrupt policemen. The movie does not have a great production and Fichera's Movies actors perform most of the acting, however you get a great surprise when you watch this film. The script and the film in general, are a very clear picture of the low life in Mexico City during the 80's, Valentin Trujillo performance is splendid, maybe the best in all his career, in the end, even when it looks like a Fichera's Movie it is not, this is one of those movies that the time is going to recognize and in order to enjoy the movie, it is absolutely necessary to get rid of any prejudice about the actors or the productions made during those years.

Citizen X (1995 TV Movie)

One of the best television films I've ever seen.

This is a film made for HBO that resulted in a very entertaining and solid movie, based on a true story this film will keep you in your place without been too pretentious. The locations are OK, more outdoor areas showing the old USSR would've been better tough. The story is about Andrei Chikatilo, a Russian serial killer during the last decade of the USSR times. Acting is good and production could've been better, still it is a great result for a TV film. Stephen Rea and Donald Sutherland's performance along with the script are the best of this film, which ends up telling you not only this assassin's story, but also how the Soviet political system used to work.

Alamar (2009)

Simple, different and nice

I saw this movie because it was the one that best matched with the time we where at the theater, me and my wife were not aware of this move and didn't had any previous knowledge of its existence. We ended up surprised for its simplicity, but at the same time for its beauty. Although it has a very poor production and basically there is no script, the plot is different for what we are used to. With a few words and fascinating images, the movie is a success when transmitting the audience how simple a life can be. I am giving 7 stars because I think they could have expressed the same beauty and simplicity in a 45 minutes format instead of 73.
