Loki: Ouroboros (2023)
More By the Numbers in the MCU
Introduce the universe ending MacGuffin. Explain incredibly slim chance of dealing with MacGuffin. Perform the activity that ends the threat. But don't advance the plot in any other meaningful direction in 45 minutes. Disappointing beginning. I keep hoping Marvel had learned its lesson, but they keep doing it, and we keep falling for it. Kevin Feige is either not paying close enough attention, or is too overwhelmed to keep all this straight. The MCU needs a rest, not a reboot. Papering over poor plots with CGI won't fix this. Tom Hiddleston is laughing all the way to the bank after this pile of junk.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Decent, if predictable movie
MoM is an okay, if unimpressive movie. It is less of a Doctor Strange movie and more of a Wanda movie. And once that is realized, the rest of it is Marvel-by-the-numbers. The fallen hero realizes their error and sacrifices herself to correct their mistake. Everything in between is fan service such as Captain Carter and Reed Richards. There's nothing spectacular in the story or the visuals. An adequate movie that - as usual for Marvel - takes few risks, and is an entertaining popcorn movie.
Star Trek: Picard: Farewell (2022)
Rushed ending
I have mostly enjoyed this season of Picard, but the writers have a pacing problem. We got about three episodes of fluff, followed by a finale that felt rushed. The space mission just kinda happened. The Borg Queen was very obvious but their purpose and final destiny seemed tacked on, not a natural outgrowth of the series.
Bonus points for the surprise guest star.
A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote (2020)
Great show! But hardly non-partisan
I loved West Wing when it was on, and this stage throwback is wonderful! But trying to spin this as non-partisan is laughable. All the messages in between acts are about as biased as you can get and basically say "Vote Democrat!" Let's be honest and call it what it is, a nice gift to the Left.
Liar: Episode #2.6 (2020)
Unfortunate Conclusion
I was looking forward to this season after the first one. We really enjoyed it -right up to the last fifteen minutes. The ending made no sense.
SPOILERS
Laura had already told the police she had seen Andrew a couple of days after his escape. So, her pithy comment about "not trusting the police" makes no sense. Also, with Vanessa, she had someone who she already had a rapport with. The twist was a letdown.
NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service: Daughters (2019)
Show is going downhill.
Stupid visits from dead ex-wife, and now a desperate attempt to return to the glory days? It's time for this show to start its end run.
