Musical, comedy ....
2 May 2006
It is a easy-funny musical, which also let a song in "romanian movie history", and I'm talking about "Ce bine e la mare ...." (It's so good to be at seaside, ... )a song well know in Romania.

Funny situations, jokes and of course, a little happy-ending love-story, modulate for communist party (it is 1977, a full-communist period) and few nice songs, made this movie pleasant to see in an boring afternoon.

The "Ovidiu" from the title of the movie is the statue of Publius Ovidius Naso, a writer from ancient Rome, who lived in Tomis, old name of Constanta.

Pas în doi (1985)
Big movie

Big movie

What can you do when you love two girls? Sincerely, with all your hard, truly but …love two girls.

It's a story about love. It's a story about couple, about how a large group of teenagers became small families. It's a story about a rebel, with a cause, a rebel who cannot decide between a pure, innocent (and blonde) burning love and a docile, peaceful, quiet and … hopeless love. A story about a young, blonde, innocent girl who fight for she's love and a quiet, hopeless and lonely young mother which can't hope that she's colleague will accept not only her but she's whole life which include other's man kid. Love is all around, under different forms and finally, love is the subject, love is the plot, and love is the end. Such a story cannot have happy-end.

Beyond all, it is to mentioned that after release, the movie had to fight with communist censors and not because it is a very-clear anticommunist movie but only because the young character was not in "the line of the party". It was – I guess – an year or a little more until the movie was pull off from the Romanian theaters.

PAS IN DOI = STEPS IN TWO. Steps in pairs? Steps in couple? Steps in the second place? Steps to the two targets?

I guess it's only steps of life ….

Among the greatest Romanian comedy
5 July 2005
The B.D. series, (Brigada Diverse = Police Miscellaneous Brigade), was among last great comedy made in the last years of "opening" years of communism. It's a funny story about 3 funny delinquent which every time start by trying to be "just legally" but finishing in the same place: prison.

It's a comedy of happenings, a burlesque or a simply movie but where you can see few of the greatest comic actors of the modern Romanian cinematography.

Even the screenplay looks today obsolescent, anachronical B.D. series it's always a pleasure to see even for the past away great actors Toma Caragiu, Puiu Calinescu, Dem Radulescu and a lot more.

B.D. în alerta (1970) B.D. intra în actiune (1970) B.D. la munte si la mare (1971)

Dogville (2003)
Nice picture
30 March 2004
I'm from Romania, I saw a 170 min version. It's probably a modified version, shorter but I'm wonder what I could see more. If it's something to hide then, all movie, all story it is to be hided, covered, to forget. It's not against America it's not against american people or it's as anti-american as to be Christian versus Jewish. It's a story about man, about human kind, about inconsecvence, unfaithful, stupidity.... It's about us. If we did not see the mirror, we can't see us.

X-Men (2000)
X - Men, and the mistakes of the ordinary people.
10 October 2003
It's a big, nice and funny mistake, in the end of the movie, a "goof" never mentioned. By nobody. It's big because it came against all the action of the movie. It's nice because it's a mistake made by the producers and the writers - same kind as the heroes of the movie - ordinary people make to x - men. And it's funny because no fan of this movie ( and the x-men team ) did not discovered! All the movie it's based on the evil actions of Magneto, his power and his casque which block Xavier to read his mind. And, also the movie it's based on the idea that ordinary people treat x-men as ordinary people. Well, the are not! Professor Charles Xavier can read minds. Magneto seems to have same powers... SO THEY CANNOT PLAY CHESS. Chess it's "mind's sport". Each player cannot build a strategy in chess because the other can see what is in his mind. However it's a very good movie ....

Comedy, comedy
12 September 2003
The story is based of a character (very) well know in Romania. Nea (uncle) Marin is a very funny peasant from Olt - county, sometimes smart, sometimes simple-minded but always giving rise to laugh. The movie, the story cannot be seen without knowing Nea Marin as a preliminary. Very interesting is that the character Nea Marin was create by the late actor Amza Pellea, he too born in Olt and a lot of the funny stories which made famous Nea Marin, was write by his performer, so the success of Nea Marin is in fact based by fiction or real happenings from his original place. He also became famous because of a small and funny pun. " Leana a lu' trasnitu' din capul satului", Leana, wife of the cracked from top of village, very close to " Leana a lu' trasnitu' din capul statului" Leana, wife of the cracked from top of state ( sat = village, stat = state) (Nicolae Ceausescu' wife was Elena = Leana).

In this movie, Nea Marin is confused with the american millionaire Juvet. Mr. Juvet's daughter is kidnap, the "bad guys" are tracked bay other team of bad guys, which also kidnap the girl from the first team, Mr. Juvet comes on a neutral zone - Romania - with his briefcase with money, Nea Marin comes too at the same hotel, his nephew gives him a briefcase, identical with Mr. Juvet's and the story goes on with finding and loosing Juvet's money, Nea Marin's leek, Juvet's daughter and everything goes clear when Nea Marin's wife Veta, appear and clean the facts. Sergiu Nicolaescu said later that he tried to do a comedy, if he can do such a movie. Is, however, his only comedy in his career, and one of the few (if it's not the only) when he doesn't appear. (even his voice can be hear at radio) The music comes from the album "World's War".

Good but not best
28 August 2003
Mr. Nicolaescu, (actually senator of romanian social-democratic party) is one of the best romanian director, specialized in war / history movie and action movie. Like the most of the directors, he try to show his version of history, making a self view picture of a page of romanian history. Which is pretty close to the reality. He seems to ignore facts well know by the young children, trying to make a good show. He is successful in most of the situations, but...

A goofs chapter could contains few lines about let's say cars which can be seen and which unfortunately, are not second world war german car but post war soviet car, much later produced and run in our country. The military cap, was also showed in a way which was forbidded (it cannot be seen the crows). Beyond doubt, mr. Nicolaescu made a very nice movie about fights, war, courage, sacrifice for nation, things which can be seen more and more rare among us.

The best performance!
28 August 2003
Bachus, ("The secret of Bachus" in original) is one of the best comedy in romanian movie history and also one of the best performance of the late actor Stefan MIHAILESCU - Braila. A lot of spectators, saw in the character of mr. Mihailescu - Braila BACHUS one of the deth convict of the Ceausescu, a man who made unlegal (for comunist state) business of billion of lei (million of dollars). But the quality of the script, the actors, (the best actors of the romainan comedy scene) and the director ) also a titan of romanian comedy) transform all into a movie which wring tears of laugh. If a movie could be carry on shoulders, half of this movie is carry by Stefan MIHAILESCU - Braila.
