Great movie. Not what I expected.
14 September 2009
I watched this film expecting it to occupy about 2 hours of my life that I didn't care about. At the end I was laughing and was pleased that a seemingly average guy like the movies creator Jim Killeen was able to "low budget" his way into a great piece of meaningful entertainment. Another fine example of human intelligence and quality movie making. I found I actually cared about each of the Jim's, something that Hollywood is usually unable to muster in me. Some of their lifestyles weren't easily accepted but it is a great example of tolerance. I give it an 8 because its fresh and funny and its soulful.. none of which you will find in this summers GI Joe movie.

A real treasure..especially if you fly planes

I guess I see this movie from a pilots point of view, and although like most aviation films pilots can pick apart all of the inaccuracies that they see. But really this film isn't all about aviation. The flying, the airplanes and the interaction with aviation in this movie really serves as a means to deliver the real idea.

Richard Dreyfuss, Holly Hunter and John Goodman do an amazing job. The overall ambiance of the movie, in my opinion, wipes away all the little things that might bother some moviegoers. I first saw this movie many many years ago and fell in love with it. For those of you romantic aviators out there I think it's definitely going to hit you in that spot :-)
