Madame Web (2024)
Ya'll being too harsh
I had a fun time watching this in theaters. The characters were fun, the actors were fun...the dialogue was a bit cheesy. But, come on, it is a super hero movie it doesn't have to be ground breaking. I also want to see what happens next with the characters.
Get a grip, people hating on it the morning it is released. Ya'll too much. Also why do I need so many characters now to write a review. I was excited to see Emma Robert's in it, I didn't know she would be. Do you think Ben was played by Adam Scott because of Parks of Recs? He's cool, I like him. Is that enough characters already geeze. Fun film, haters relax. Bye.
Meet Cute (2022)
Dark Rom Com
Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson star in this dark rom com about a girl that meets a guy at a bar but she doesn't exactly tell him everything at the jump of their "Meet Cute" encounter. The movie makes a big left turn at about the 20 minute mark and then keeps you guessing about what is going on for the majority of the movie.
Pete and Kaley have pretty compelling chemistry between the two of them and their comedic timing plays off well of each other. There are some instances where it is a little confusing following "the rules" of what is going on that need a little more fleshed out writing to fully grasp. The movie also deals with certain aspects of depression that can be triggering for some people, but overall the movie has a lot of heart. If you're a fan of these two actors and dark rom coms then you will appreciate this movie and over look the confusing bits. I found it to be entertaining and thoughtful.
Phobias (2021)
Better As Anthology
The individual stories would be served better if the main story that connected all of them was removed. It would allow more time for each individual phobia story to be flushed out more. Separated, they each had something compelling to say, but were cut short to make room for the interweaving "main" plot. They also could have a bit more focus on the phobia itself that they were portraying. The actors did a pretty solid job but the storylines were a bit short to allow them to dive into their characters, motivations and set the environmental moods for each segment. Love Macy Gray though!
Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021)
Listen....
It was not great. But honestly, Don Cheadle tried his absolute best....and I respect him for it....
Come Play (2020)
This Movie Came To Play
So I went to see this movie cause it was a horror movie finally in Dolby (after Tenet held the theater for like 6 weeks) and I absolutely loved it. I thought it was paced very well for tension and excitement but it also allowed for character development which is always great to see in a horror movie. The characters that you thought would be cookie cutter roles that you seen a hundred times in scary movies end up surprising you in how they turn out. The monster was definitely scary and kept a great suspense going the whole time. And then, it finished off with a very strong ending. I want to learn more about the monster and would love a sequel. 10/10. (Gillian Jacobs definitely did not Brita this up!)
The Mortuary Collection (2019)
Some Hits and Some Misses.
The flow of the stories were very different from eachother. It really took me until around the final half of the movie to start to really get into it. The first two stories felt a bit throw away to me. It had a few pretty cool cinematic shots. Most of it seem to go for a strange/shock factor over a creepy/scary factor. There were also a few people and things involved in the stories that you thought were going to hold more significance in the grand scheme of things but then just kind of forgotten about along the way. If there is a sequel, it will have room to grow.
The Cleansing Hour (2019)
Great Companion to the Short Film
At first when I put this on, I was having a case of dejavu, cause I swear I saw this same storyline before. Turns out I saw it was a short film with the same name starring Heather Morris (Glee) who also guest appearanced in this. It was a fun short film that I enjoyed, this one was a great addition into expanding that world. The cast had a great performance and I definitely got caught up in the excitement. The ending was my favorite part cause I was wishing it would go there and it did. It was definitely a nail biter and alot of fun to watch.
Books of Blood (2020)
Absolutely Loved It
Maybe I ended up enjoying it because I haven't heard of or read Clive Barker that most people seem to be complaining about on here. I thought it ended up being a great gem of a movie as I have been sifting through horror movies daily for October. All 3 stories had compelling storytelling. There was a lot of fun, creepy imagery (the eyes in the vent for example). Everyone was strong in their acting and it completely kept my interest. Overall it was a great find for a spooky flick in this October time.
The Babysitter: Killer Queen (2020)
Enjoy The Ride
I was surprised to see so many low scoring reviews from people that say they liked the first one. I found it to be right on par with the first. Enjoy the ride of the movie cause it's a lot of fun. Everybody came back and we're equally as funny as the first one and the kill scenes were great. People wrecking it are just looking to complain about something. It is a fun movie!
The Pool (2018)
Nope
Unecessary Dog Death, gets a big fat zero. Main character makes way too many stupid decisions and gets the dog killed. No thanks...
