Death in Paradise (2011)
Wonderful Characters/Amazing Writing
The interplay of the characters, especially in the early seasons, is magnificent. Danny John-Jules's portrayal of Dwayne Myers is so well done, I wanted him to stay throughout the entire production. He is so understated and lovable, especially in his relationship to Gary Carr's character Fidel Best. One favorite line, "Want a man hug?" literally moved me to tears, as did several of his words and gestures. So subtle, yet moving.
The relationship between Ben Miller's Poole and Sara Martin's Camille is just as beautiful and touching. The subtle glances and small gestures are so lovely to watch as they both grow into their positions and their friendship. So sad it ended too soon.
The Elevator (2021)
School Play
This is a filmed school play. The acting is terrible, the sets are cheap, the lighting this horrendous, and the dialogue sounds like it was written by a teenager.
I usually like Etic Roberts, but he could have phoned in most of his part as you can not even see most of what he "cried" as the elevator is so dark you don't know what he's doing.
The "daughters" are so obnoxious you really don't even care for them as characters. The mother and son overcast so much that their lines come across so campy it is laughable.
It's 90 minutes of my life ill never get back, I wish I believed the other reviews.
Bloodhound (2020)
You Need to Pay Attention
I don't understand the negative reviews except for the fact that people must not understand the film. I guess it's because you have to listen and pay attention to what is SAID. There are no crashes, explosions, or gratuitous sex scenes so it loses their attention.
It is a very intense subject matter and touches every emotion, you really never expect some of it. As for some saying you don't know who the actual culprit us, I believe it is answered by the last phone call by the female detective if you really pay attention.
I recommend this for people who like intense crime thrillers, but realize it has the potential for triggering (in I hate that word) subject matter.
One December Night (2021)
Better than Expected
I'm a huge fan of both Bruce Campbell and Peter Gallagher so I was hoping this would be good, but I'm not at all a fan of Eloise Mumford, so I almost skipped it.
I ended up kind of liking Mumford's character in this movie because she wasn't really that prominent, even though she still looked like she was going to cry every 10 minutes. As I expected Gallagher and Campbell we're fabulous as aging, feuding musicians and friends. I had all the feels while watching this movie.
