Snow Day (2022)
Horrible, not needed remake.
This is an unnecessary, annoying and stupid remake of a cute movie. The kids are not cute, the little girl's voice is obnoxious and no one is remotely interesting.
I usually love musicals, so I'm really disappointed.
I saved it on our watchlist because my husband loves the original Snow Day. I thought he'd really enjoy this. Unfortunately, he only could stand 15 minutes of this.
I do not recommend this. Maybe little kids will like it. Maybe.
I'll rewarch the classic Snow Day with Chevy Chase, Jean Smart, John Schneider, Chris Elliott, Mark Webber and Josh Peck. And I'll try to forget that I attempted this horrible mess.
Being the Ricardos (2021)
I was excited.......was
I was excited to see this movie, but I am very disappointed. Nicole Kidman was badly miscast as Lucille Ball/Lucy Ricardo. Kidman is a very good actor and I usually like her performances, but her botoxed-to-the-max face was unable to make the wonderful, familiar and famous expressions that our beloved Lucy did. Another thing that drives me nuts as a trivia buff is that when a movie is made about a famous person and the facts of certain events are widely available, to have events such as when Desi and Lucy met written wrong, it's unforgivable.
Javier Bardiem is ok as Desi Arnez/Ricky Ricardo, but Desi was very handsome and he could sing, Javier is not exactly good looking to me and couldn't sing well.
I don't know why I am a stickler about things like this but I am. If a movie is being made about famous people and historical events that the facts are available easily, you should get the damn facts right and then embellish for storytelling. I DID enjoy portrayals of Vivian Vance/Ethel Mertz and William Frawley/Fred Mertz, because they looked enough like the real people and some of the facts of their relationship were very spot on.
Bottom line? I love Lucy, but I sure didn't love Being The Ricardos.
4/10.
Hard to Hold (1984)
Could Have Been So Much Better
I have loved Rick Springfield since I saw him on General Hospital when I was 4. I'd basically watch him in anything.
This movie could have been better with a different love interest and a better structured story.
The music is great and Rick is gorgeous.
The fact that the brilliant Purple Rain was released this same year as this film really shows what can be done in a story around a musician.
I still watch this one just for Rick Springfield.
Cats (2019)
Oh, Sweet Lord...
Sweet Baby Jesus, help me Tom Cruise.....this is the most God awful crap I've tried to watch in ages.
The Room is at least fun! God help us!
White Chicks (2004)
If I could rate it lower than 1 star....
I hate this stupid movie. It is so dumb and unfunny, I can't believe that people actually watch this willingly.
The Unwelcoming House (2019)
Harmless Found Footage Fun
I really enjoyed The Unwelcoming House! Very, very low budget, but a lot of fun. If found footage horror is your thing, check it out!
Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal (2019)
What happened to the Harry and Meghan from the 1st movie?
Yikes! The new Harry and Meghan suck. Should have gotten the entire original cast for the sequel.
Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance (2018)
Great casting and a sweet story
I really love this silly made for tv movie. The cast, especially the two who played Harry and Meghan, were great. Great chemistry too!
Stan Helsing (2009)
Horrible
Nothing interesting or remotely funny in this so called spoof. It's just bad.
Paranormal Whacktivity (2013)
Don't. Just don't
This is so bad, I can't explain just how God-awful it is. If I could have rated it lower than 1 star, I would have. Let's just say I give it -100 stars. It's just awful.
The Ranch (2016)
Was fun.....
The first few seasons were fun. I understand why Danny Masterson had to go. I 100% agree with getting rid of him. That said, they could have figured out something that would have been a little less dark and depressing.
No longer fun.
Ghostwatch (1992)
Fabulous
I am an American who never heard of this before. I found out about it via a Horror Facebook group. I tried in vain to locate it, and finally Shudder has it. Holy crap! This scared the hell out of me! I have seen this several times and every time, it scares me. I've ordered the dvd hoping that it is, as the seller claims, region free, if not, I'll be selling it on Ebay.
The BBC really should release it on bluray for everyone. They'd make a fortune!
Heartland (2007)
I'm usually not a fan of family shows
I tend to love shows like CSI, True Blood, Sex and the City.....you get the idea. I accidentally watched an episode while getting my nails done and I immediately came home and found it on Netflix.
Great story, great characters in a gorgeous setting. I'm hooked!
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
I'm late to the party, but glad I came!
I just discovered this show on Netflix over the summer and I'm so glad I did. How I Met Your Mother is now one of my all time favorite shows. I've bought every season on DVD and we even watch it on Netflix from time to time. The acting is perfect, the characters of Lily and Marshall remind me of my husband and myself, the story lines are great and the laughs are plentiful. I hope that when Ted does meet "the Mother" that the show will go on for a few more seasons so we can see Ted happy and married. If you haven't seen How I Met Your Mother, do yourself a favor and start at the beginning like I did and watch until you get caught up. It's a Legen(wait for it)dary show!!
The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 (2011)
Still beaming over "Breaking Dawn Part 1"
Loving the entire saga like I do, I tend to like all the films no matter what. I loved the first three, but honestly, New Moon wasn't that great. I still watch it often and enjoy it, but as always, some films are better than others.
*****Spoilers Ahead***** I have read "Breaking Dawn" many times. It is my favorite book in the saga. I'm not a young adult, so when they finally make love on their honeymoon, I was overjoyed, yet frustrated due to the lack of a 'sex scene' in the book. The film does not disappoint. We get a gorgeous wedding, a hot wedding night, including a headboard getting busted (I screamed "YES"), and feathers. After all the romance, we get an unplanned, pregnancy that no one ever thought was possible. That is when the drama really kicks in.
Now, knowing that this is a big book where tons of things happen, there are scenes, conversations and events that have to be left out. I did miss Rosalie etching "Fido" on a silver dish that she fashioned into a doggy bowl for Jacob, I missed the eggs that Bella was eating my the dozen on the honeymoon, I missed the Alice saying "She's going to be dazzling." All in all, I'm a very happy Twi-hard.
This is the best film of the saga and if you have read the books, you will love it too.
I'm looking forward to Part 2!
