The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 5: Return of the Mandalorian (2022)
Mandalore is Glass
I used Boba Fett's line from a Mandalorian episode to title my review because of how Boba views Mandalore in general. He is not connected to it in any way other than his father was a Mandalorian and he needs to recognize that heritage.
The Mandalorian also is only connected to Mandalore through the very strict cult he is a part of. They showed in this episode how few Mandalorians survived the empire butally wiping them out.
What I LOVED about this episode is how much attention to details of the Star Wars mythology were in it. SO much! Hope you all loved it as much as I did! MTFBWYA.
Star Wars Biomes (2021)
A Kubrickian view of the Star Wars universe.
What affected me right away was the view that was chosen to show us the landscapes. Basically, we start at Hoth, move on to Tattooine, then the forest planet from the Mandalorian, followed by Scairt from The Last Jedi. Mustafar is in there too, and finally the planet Luke was on in the Last Jedi. I probably have these chronologically wrong, but it is only 18 minutes, and the idea is to give us a different view of the Star Wars universe. Those expecting a story or anything will be disappointed. I just enjoyed the idea of a 2001 (or Shining) style look at the Star Wars universe. No dialog, just visuals. I will dare say I would like more. (Coruscant, Cloud City, Dagobah, Dathomir, Exogel).. and even more after that.

Hereditary (2018)
Truly Terrifying
If a film stays with you days after you have seen it, and still the images leave you shaken, wasn't that film successful? I ask rhetorically because I am on the side that says this is a truly great horror film, if not just a great dramatic film. My reasons follow below.
YOU have to figure this film out, it is not up to the film creators to spoon feed us the information needed to make sense of all this. Nowhere in the film maker guidebook does it say the story has to be explained in total to the audience. I would argue that the story is told in total very well and all the puzzle pieces are laid out before us to figure out the truly horrific ending.
The players are doomed in this hardcore tragedy of a film. But it is the execution of the work that stays with me, the sheer bravado of the filmmaker to inflict such a total horror experience for those willing to stay with the story as it goes.
People say why not call the police? Well, even Hitchcock decried using police in his works because basically, the police are not going to win because his films were trying to evoke suspense, terror, and thrills. This film as well. The police can't help us says Toni Collette's character. When she says that it is true, especially with all the satanism, cult rituals, etc going on.
I notice that people who say they LOVE horror films want to denounce this film, because it doesn't fit into their mold. That's fine, but why not praise a film you love rather than denounce one you hate? I am doing that here. This is my first review on IMDB. I love this site. I have watched almost 4000 films in my lifetime. This one ranks among the 50 best horror films I have ever seen. Lets agree to disagree if you don't think so for yourself.
