Resident Evil (2022)
Surprised at how great it was
Everyone goes into it wanting it to be like the movies or the video games. It was filmed really well, the acting is great, and the script was cleaver. It was really well done and I was happy to spend 8 hours on this and hope for more seasons.
The Call (2013)
Decent 90min Movie
The story is decent, predictable, but pretty good. The actual filming of it was done well. There are some interesting shots and the locations were good. The actors throughout were what sold it for me. You feel the disgust and anger toward the antagonist and you cheer on the protagonist. The minor characters are also very intriguing. You are left wanting to know more about them which in my opinion is a good thing a 90 min film. There are holes in the writing as far as it being super realistic or convincing enough for the audience to believe that this would ever happen. There are some good lessons from it for someone getting abducted and put in the trunk of a car.(No spoilers so I will not go on) Is it the best movie ever, No. Is it a good movie to pass 90 mins, Yes. Would I watch it again, probably not, but I did enjoy it. For a movie put out in 2013 it is pretty good and I was not disappointed by it. I gave it a 10 because it met my expectations of what it would be.
One extra note is that for people who rated it low because they are upset by the "creep" in the movie.... Well if the actor made you feel upset or disgusted then they did their job and played their character very well.
Triggered (2020)
If you like the saw movie but want a little less gore this is a great movie for you!
First off I loved this movie. I love how they referenced the Saw movies because it has a similar feel. The acting was believable for all the things the characters had to go through. The plot didn't have any holes in it. Definitely well written and filmed. Also, the effects were done quiet well. It's not a movie for everyone, but people who like thriller/ horror movies would most likely enjoy this movie quiet a bit. I get some people who wouldn't like it, but not every movie is for everyone. This movie ticked all the boxes for me! Not going to spoil anything, but will say I loved the ending.
Grand Army (2020)
This is what teens are facing in America.
First, I would like to say the young actors and actresses in this show are definitely the future. I look forward to seeing more from all of them. Secondly, the individual plot lines are well told and are really what teens and young adults are facing today in America. Third, without giving to much away, they showed every horribly difficult situation that young adults face (rich, poor, any ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, religion) in their young lives in a very true form.
My opinion of the show as the person I am is that it not only left me wanting another season, but left me feeling strong emotions for all of the characters. It's a show that can make you happy, sad, angry, uncomfortable, and confused. When a show can make angry at an actor or actress, that means they are connecting with you deeply. If you can feel happy and joy for a characters achievements then they are doing something right. You get all emotions in this show.
This is my first review on IMDb. I tried my best to stay unbiased. I looked at the filming, the acting, the plot lines, and the character development. I can't fault a single thing in this show. Reading other reviews that are rating it on options of disliking it for one small part of the plot is kinda frustrating. I don't think people should review a show they didn't watch till the end. There should be no bias when really reviewing a show. I tried to put mine aside and look at everything that can make a show great and rate it on that. This show gets a 10 out of 10 in every category.
My last point is on one of the plot lines. Personally, I think it was the hardest to watch and the most important thing in the show that hopefully they will continue on in the next season. Sexual assault. They showed it in a very true light. It is difficult to watch, but it is how the system is right now. It is also a very accurate depiction of what a person goes through after.
Thank you Netflix for another great show and pushing the boundaries of what people want to see into what they need to see.
