Straight Outta Compton (2015)
What is up with all the bad reviews? Can't handle the truth?
growing up listening to the NWA, WTC etc. I enjoyed this biography to the fullest. The actors mimicking the artists was very believable. Loved how they truly depicted the story of the group.
Don't understand why so many negative reviews. If it's vulgarity then these reviewers watch minimal amount of movies, mostly pg13 I believe.
Fans will love this and if you weren't a fan before then this movie will make you one. I give it 10 because I can follow up with it and it really is nostalgic.
Highly recommend it to anyone of appropriate age, if you are sensitive and can't bear 4-5 mins worth of nudity in the movie then it isn't for you.
Bajrangi Bhaijaan (2015)
A Groundbreaking, Heart Stomping Journey Which You Shouldn't Miss!
This is hands down one of the finest movies out of many I have seen this year. Simple, effective and mesmerizing. It brings all the superlative emotions out of you! (I am talking about the tears of joy). I have enjoyed previous Salman Khan movies because of their raw entertainment factor but that's just it. In more simple words they were mostly 'time pass' flicks to take your head off things. Bajrangi Bhaijaan on the other hand highlights a scenario where you just want to give most characters a tight hug as it make them seem so real! Salman Khan deserves much more attention for this film than what he has received. A splendid performance by him unlike any other movie he has done. The real winner her is Harshaali Malhotra with an impressive work. Nawazuddin Siddiqui as always was extremely natural. A righteously made movie with an important moral message for both countries and their rivalry. All in all, Kabir Khan have made up for past presentations with Bajrangi Bhaijan and it is a must watch! Salman Khan's journey to get Munni home will create wonders in your heart. It is one of those movies which I would buy on bluray and add it to my collection.
I give it a 10/10 not because of any biases but because it literally gave me shivers and touched my heart.
Gabbar Is Back (2015)
Gabbar Is Still Ruthless!
Even though I enjoy Akshay's comic roles, since the last couple of years he has been on fire with punching and kicking his best action packed powers, for a full on paisa vasool treat, for entertainment starved souls of Bollywood, stomaching the required box office belly of returns.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali productions - Gabbar Singh played by Amjad Khan in Ramesh Sippy's evergreen classic 'Sholay' with the stingy and dirty corruption to stage an escapist action packed entertainer that successfully rolls in the crowd pleasing 'dialogue' - to change the 'deadly' corruption.
It is based on the 2002 Tamil hit 'Ramana' by A.R. Murugadoss that starred Vijayakanth in the lead. 'Gabbar is Back' gets its title from Sanjay Leela Bhansali and gets straight into business right from the first frame in its Bollywod version that gets its additional screenplay and dialogs support from Rajat Arora.
Akshay Kumar lords over the film and sporting a well-groomed beard and a flowing hair-style, his screen presence is highly attractive. In a flashback sequence, we see him with a thick mustache and this look suits him too. As the vigilante professor who takes up a crusade against corrupt government officials with the help of a network of students and like-minded officials, Akki is a good fit for the role. As always, he dazzles in the stunt scenes and his punchlines have been woven around his job as a professor. And the trademark line about corruption is greeted with whistles and hoots in the hall. Gabbar sure is a treat for fans of the star, and they'll have several moments to savor.
In conclusion, Gabbar is likely to make an instant connect with the common man, who wants his cinema to entertain and also connect with him on some level. Addressing everyday issues surrounding corrupt government officials, Gabbar has its intent in the right place and a robust hero to carry it safely to the finish line. It will work better for those who haven't seen the original version.
Get Hard (2015)
I sincerely enjoyed it!
I am a huge Kevin Hart fan every since his first mainstream comic stand up (I'm a Grown Little Man). Enjoyed all of his movies especially The Wedding Ringer. Watching the trailer for the first time, I was insanely excited to see Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart working together! Finally I got a Saturday night show tickets to watch it and the movie was rather unique within its story in the beginning. Will Ferrell did what he does best with his over the top comic role of a millionaire, smart but naive character. Kevin Hart also did what he does best as a broke, vulnerable but funny confident character. Soon you find out that you have seen this before in buddy cop movies. Two very different personalities (status and attitude) get together to accomplish a goal and become best friends. It is a clichéd story which didn't live up to my expectations but they did have humorous scenes which got me laughing and isn't that the whole point? (Loved the transition where Ferrell's house turns from a lavish villa to a prison!) Aside the clichéd story and excessive sexual humor, I enjoyed Get Hard and the chemistry between the two lead actors.
