Meiji Tokyo Renka (2019)
Poor show with a wonderful location
I was really looking forward to watch that show. I liked anime, which is not best anime in the world but has some really enjoyable moments. Sadly the live action drama turned out to be a work of an amateur. Literally everything that made anime entertaining was threw out and replaced by... THIS. Costumes look cheap, the wigs are unnatural. Acting is very poor, except for Yuki Kubota who is the only experienced actor in the whole cast. But even his role was ridiculed by making Goro Fujita act like a grumpy teenager all the time. The main actress is young and unexperienced but she is very pretty. As for the male cast... Well, let's say it's the matter of an individual taste. I didn't like anyone because all the characters lacked the depth. There was one thing I liked though: the shooting location, namely the Meijimura open air museum in Inuyama. I vsisited Meijimura myself last year and this place is magical. XIX century industrial Japan, frozen in time. Some locations are even directly connected to the characters (Ougai mori's house, for example). I recommend paying a visit. As for watching the show... It's up to you. I watched it for Yuki Kubota. I even bought a DVD, so I won't throw stones at anyone who unlike me enjoyed the show.
Erkenci Kus (2018)
Somebody give me back 10 months of my life!
"Erkenci kus" was my first Turkish dizi ever. It was recommended by my good friend. I must say I had high expectations regarding this show. Several episodes later I was still uncovinced and bored, but my friend kept me on track saying: "It gets better later, keep watching". I watched everything except for the last two episodes and I must say this was a torture! Characters are silly, childish even, acting is average at best, plot makes no sense whatsoever. Side characters are annoying, parents act like a playschool pupils. The only good thing I can say about this show is the chemistry between main couple. Their attraction seemed very genuine. But overal, I have a strong impression that all those 10 stars reviews come from the people who blindly worship Can Yaman. Among all actors only Demet Ozdemir showed some decent acting skills, especially later on. There were opinions that show lost it's charm around 40 episode and I somewhat agree with that. There were some good moments before the writer's exchange but all those drowned in the stupid & unnessessary scenes, schemes and poor dialogues. It's not a show I would recommend to anyone, unless I intend them to suffer from boredom. I really regret I haven't quit watching when my guts told me to do so.
